Rich,
Hi Rich,
Re your message on Rudest Elf's page:
I was on the point of volunteering to be a sub-editor when I suffered two bizarre technical problems which are currently preventing me from accessing Yahoo Groups. At home I signed up to BT broadband, which prevents me from accessing it under my previous Yahoo groups ID, and at work my employer has blocked the site.
I was already a scout and photographer at the time. I have given up being a photographer (as I can't see the photo folders), but I am continuing as a scout, as I can still receive and respond to the e-mails.
I'd happily volunteer as a sub-editor, but if the job requires me to access Yahoo Groups, then this would prevent me taking it up.

Well, you wouldn't need to access the group to do any editing, which is all done onsite, or to receive messages which come through in the same way as the Scouts'.
Once you've taken the Subs test though, you have to respond to the invite by going to the group. After that, you just email the group asking for 'batches'. If you could sort that out by going to an Internet cafe or a friend's house to simply make an acceptance click, you'd never have to go there again.
We are a little short of Subs at the moment, and it was only when I 'bumped into' that conversation that I realised you weren't one. You can normally tell a Scout from a Scout-Sub, and I've always just presumed you were

Great!
Rich, are you that short of subs? Thought it was only the scouts that are getting more sparse by the minute?

Hooray!
We're short of both, Bel, and we're quite short of decent candidates, too. If you know anyone that might be interested, give them a poke

I've emailed the Subs group, as I've only just noticed there were no responses to your post on the volunteers page, Icy. My apologies for this; hopefully this will kick-start some action
