Cricket Joke

I think my favourite cricket joke was a cartoon of an umpire sat near the back in the stands, with those around looking at him oddly. The caption was "Well, apparently this is where you get the best view."

Returning (briefly) to sleep. Many years ago, My Husband went home from work during his lunch break, put on a chip pan we had back in those days, turned on the cricket and fell asleep. Woke up to a very black flat - fortunately before the flames. When he went back to work and explained to his boss that he had fallen asleep watching cricket, the boss said "must have been an interesting game then"

But that's one of the great things about cricket, surely? You're very safe in the knowledge that, if a session does start getting dull, you can always just doze off for a short time Either way, you're a winner!

I've always liked the way cricket spectators go in for auxillary entertainment while watching cricket. You see them painting, doing crosswords, all sorts of things.

I find that when watching - dare I say it? Derbyshire, when they are playing at Chesterfield, there is a wonderful lake for ducks, geese and all manner of wild birds within the park, so we can always watch the wildlife if the match is dull.

It can be quite a long day - my Grandad and I kept score when we went to Taunton together last year to help pass the time. TV fans, with all the replays, Hawkeye and chatting don't necessary realise how long it can feel between balls and overs. I suppose that's part of the appeal of Twenty20 cricket.
