That which does not kill..
kitschy_gal Started conversation Jun 25, 2005
Hi, I've been told that you might possibly know the answer to my query. I am hoping to translate 'That which does not kill will only serve to make you stronger' and 'What doesn't kill will make you stronger' into Latin.
I am STUCK, having spent what seems like 560,000 hours on the internet looking for a translation.
Thanks for your help!
Lauren.

Hi Lauren
I'm honoured to see that you're seeking out my help! I'm just a student of Latin myself, having finished my third year of study recently, so my translations are by no means infallible. I will try to provide you with an accurate translation, but if you really want to get a good (definitely infallible!) one, you should check out A218882 Handy Latin Phrases. Banjo Golly, the translator-in-residence, always provides excellent help.
That having been said, I will try to give you some Latin for 'That which does not kill will only make you stronger.'
Illud quod non interficit tantum fecit fortius.
I think that would be a good translation. However, as I said, I'm by no means infallible, and it might be a good idea to check with Banjo Golly if this is something important.
If you're interested in learning more about Latin, may I recommend the Language Thing's Latin Department at A3235628? We have lots of fun there, although as the Head of Department and sole teaching Researcher, I'm not particularly productive, I'm afraid.
