Hi emr,
Just a friendly enquiry. You mention having written a paper on Geoffrey Chaucer recently. Is that towards your degree or, if you are even younger, is it a High School project?
The reason I ask is to ascertain whether your paper is also available on h2g2, or on-line elsewhere. You already know of my interest in our early English Bard and that I share with you a love of his works.
I have paid you an uninvited visit (P S); I hope you don't mind.

Oh, it was nothing really. I'm in 9th grade, right, so in my English class we had to write a biographical paper on an author. It was meant to be five pages with three or so internet sources; I being who and what I am made it twelve pages with two pages of sources, including primary ones. So know I do know quite a bit about Chaucer! But no, it's not available online, though thank you very much for your interest. I just hope my teacher is willing to read all twelve pages!
BTW, if you ever want to pursue a career in medieval studies, the two most essential languages to know (aside from Middle English) are French and Latin.
And Chaucer had a great deal to give to Shakespeare. Chaucer invented iambic pentameter, and wrote the story of Troilus and Criseyde before Shakespeare did (and then he spelled it 'Cressida').
So there you go. If you were expecting anything special, you were sadly mistaken. Just me pontificating, as usual.

Hi emr,
You are too modest. You are a good scholar, it is so obvious. Your whole approach is academically mature in one so young. Everything you are undertaking is interesting and your creativity also comes out in the way you have set up your Personal Space and Introduction.
Please don't think I am being patronizing. Here in the UK we have so many so called students at our high schools who have no interest at all in education, or in developing themselves in any way for any kind of career.
So it is refreshing to see such enthusiasm.
I have a female cousin in London, Ontario, who emigrated from our home town in the UK 42 years ago. She has 3 children who are, of course first generation Canadians.
Best Wishes in all you choose to do in the future, both academically and in choice of career.

Thanks very much It means a lot to me when people say I'm mature, when I mingle as I do in the adult world. Your comments are very much appreciated.
