I just wanted to personally thank you for the help and advice you've given me. And I really dont mean to sound rude or nosy but I was reading through your profile and I could'nt help but notice your 42ism didn't quite add up. Unfourtanantly I couldn't get it out of my mind so I figured one out.

Wow, thanks for fixing the 42ism! (I don't do math; someone gave it to me and I just copied it down.)

Of course you should read through my profile; that's what it's there for. And I'm here to offer advice too; you might have noticed I'm a Scout and so it's my job to help people get entries PR-ready (besides, I just like doing it).

I hope you're enjoy h2g2! (It's my favourite place on the planet.) Do you have any questions about the site, the entry-writing process or anything like that?

Thank you

Well in the short time that I've been here I decided I would love to be a sub-editor, just curious if you have any suggestions on that?

Thank you

It's a nice job - the first volunteer position I acquired here, and still my favourite. I'd recommend waiting a little bit before applying - it's a good idea to have put at least one entry through Peer Review before taking on any Edited Guide-related job.

But take a look the Subeditors page and all the other Sub-editors' pages for all the info about the job. Also make sure you know Subeditors-Style, the house style guide, and check out the <./>GuideML-Clinic</.> if you need to brush up on your GML, because you do need to know that quite well.

Be advised that if you do decide to volunteer, you will have to pass a small test to demonstrate your knowledge of grammar and GuideML. I'd recommend doing it, by all means - but not till you've had a bit of experience round the site first.
