Sorry to drop that census data on you, but I had assumed the same thing you did about satellite TV access. I went to the census page to get the actual figures and was surprised to see the result!

I didn't check TV ownership - can't remember if the census asked about that but I guess if you don't have a telly you can't be worried about swearing etc in programs...

That's no problem - I wish I could dig up stats for the membership of each social group, or for percentage tv/video/cable/satellite ownership *per household* with some idea how households vary one to another.

I tried to find class profiles for the population, but they don't seem to be easily available for free, or at least, not anywhere I can find them
On the UK government statistics site, the best I could find was some data on working-age people, but the categories they used weren't squareable with the ones in the TV survey.

I hadn't realised just *how many* definition schemes there *were* for class and occupation.

How hard *would* it have been for them to give graphs/figures for percentage ownership per household per group?

I think I'll give up on the web searching and email a mate who works with epidemiology researchers and statisticians. I'm sure he'll be able to give me an idea of the numbers I need.
Only problem is, my ISPs email has been down for the last 24hrs, so it may take some time before that is feasible.
