Up for a meet? East Midlands Meet 2 is, rather confusingly, being held in Burton, (which is in the West Midlands) on Saturday 5 March 2005:

Sounds interesting - as far as I know, I'm free that weekend.
I see I'm down as provisional already, but I suspect it's pretty likely I'll be there. Thanks for mentioning it.

Oh - I *see* why I'm down as 'possible'.

I *did* wonder at first why my name appeared in full, unlike anybody else's.
I thought maybe you thought I was special. smiley - wah

Oooh - just noticed you'd posted - sorry for not replying earlier.

Unfortunately, it seems my presence is probably needed elsewhere at least on Saturday daytime and possibly longer, and I suspect that trying to get to Burton for the evening would end up not working out.

I hope you all have a good time, and wish I could be there. Maybe the next London meet?

It seems the other happening this weekend may not be happening after all, but I won't know until sometime Thursday (or possibly Friday).

If it doesn't happen, I'm certainly keen to come along, but sorting out accomodation could be a pain. Is there any chance of finding a little piece of floor somewhere (sleeping bag/mat no problem)?

That's no problem, the pub used to be a hotel, and the landlord has offered the use of the old hotel rooms. You'll need a sleeping back, but that's it smiley - ok It would be great if you could make it, I'm sure Bruce would love another caver to talk too.

Any word yet? Either way, there's directions to both pubs on the page. From 1230ish to 6ish we'll be in The Coopers, then on to The Derby Turn.

Just checked, and I should be coming.
What's car parking like in that area - I seem to remember reading something, but I'm not sure which thread it was in. Presumably it's better to leave my car somewhere near the second pub?

Excellent news smiley - ok

If you arrive after normal pub opening time, then park in the second pub's car park (at teh back of the pub), but make sure you go in and explain to the landlord that you're with us, and he'll give you a card to stick in the window to stop the clampers. You can then walk to the first pub (10 mins or so).

From the pub, go straight up Derby Road (follow signs to station), left over the bridge down Station Street, then second right down Milton Street (past the Devonshire on the corner). You'll see a sign saying 'back entrance to Cooper's Tavern'. We'll be in there 'til sixish.
