Hi Potholer,
I don't know if you managed to catch the tv show "Extreme Archeology" on Channel 4 on the 11th July. They were down some very old copper mines on Anglsey. There was quite a bit of footage underground showing the team moving through some very hairy bits of passages untill they got to a point where the experts (former mine safety inspectors) said don't go there.

I was in London sorting out stuff for my upcoming Slovenia trip, and my sister videoed it for me. I haven't watched it yet, but will do when I get back.
I saw the program a few weeks ago where they were floundering around in a muddy river, and they did seem to be rather a bunch of muppets when it came to technical stuff, so it could be interesting.
