Just spotted this, although I guess it is already known in the circles you move in!

"Potholers have discovered the UK's largest cave beneath a hillside in the Peak District in Derbyshire, it was reported today
The cave, named Titan, is estimated to be around 459ft (140 metres) from floor to ceiling - as high as the London Eye. That makes it nearly 197ft higher than the previous record-holder, Gaping Gyhll, in the Yorkshire Dales."

Thanks for thinking of me.
Despite what the Guardian article might imply, Titan's been open for a while.
After the shaft had been found and climbed from the bottom, and radiolocation done to work out where the closest surface point was, they started digging in late 1999, and finally connected in June 2003.

I went part-way down ~2 years ago to hold flashguns for someone doing a photo trip, but I had a really bad light at the time, so didn't see much.
