I swore I wouldn't use this feature because it NEVER leaves my page. But I'm bored and lonely and I want to subject my life to the void of the information superhighway. Why? Because I can.
The flow of life is interesting as of late: saying adios to tmwc, deciding to quit my "plush" job after three years after securing a new one, my pseudo-brother (the sniper/cop) is getting married in August, and I ditched my only friend I had in the area. Not to mention I'll be an aunt in seven months.
I just try to keep to the sidelines. But it never works.
So I spent yesterday (My first REAL full day off from the outside world in about six months: No job. No school. No parents. No Chris. No relatives. No driving. No cats.) cozied up next to the roaring fire in the fireplace, sleeping and reading these fascinating books:
I'm about a hundred pages into _The Diversity of Life_ by Edward O. Wilson (the Carl Sagan of biology). In this book, he examines the genetic, biological and ecological reasons that we have biodiverisity in our biosphere. He fills out the Theory of Evolution with genetic variations, explains mutations, and the isolating barriers that help induce new species. He also puts forth that we are in another Age Of Extinction, but for absolutely no reason ohter than the activities of humanity have such a pervasive effect on the ecosystems of our planet.
The other book I'm about the same depth into is _Chaos_ by James Gleick. This book examines the relatively short history of Chaos Theory, the beginning leaders and followers, and the fundemental processes of this "new" theory. It also examines how this theory has effected nearly every discipline of science and mathematics thus far. I'm particularly enjoying the chapter on the geometry of nature, where the bell shaped curve doesn't answer everything and the measurements of coastlines are up for speculation.
What a great day. Just wish I could do it again.

I'm working on about four different guide entries at the moment, either on the computer at home, on the train to school or during moments of complete nothingness during my professor's lectures. Also checking out other researcher's home pages: such as the virtual reasearcher's page and JimiX's page (not to mention TMWC)...I'm envious, guys! But don't worry...I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
