I find myself up and alone at nearly 7.00 in the morning.... Tom and Beth are in Singapore so it is just the boys and I and I fell asleep before they did last night so they are sleeping in this morning. So after working solidly for the last hour I thought I would skoot over and see if you were up and say G'day.

Oh pooh, missed this by about 40 minutes. Milady was rushing about for a quick supper before her 2nd night of the Ladies Dart League this week. They lost a night to blizzards, and have to make up.

Hi I am busy buying second hand books on Amazon, editing an article for a magazine and wondering weather to put another coat of varnish on the book case so its dry by tonight or wait until tonight after the boys have gone to bed and do it then....or go and play in the garden with the second lot of seedlings....decisions decisions is your lady very upset

Oh no, she quite likes being 'busy' and that her team has done well. It has also given me a couple of nights to enjoy some meat treats a friend gave me ... Moose meat !!! A small roast and some sausages. All cooked last night, and lunch today was sandwiches of roast. Now I am building a stew of the remnants.

My dad makes an excellent stew with two secret ingredients and the use of a very old pressure cooker that every now and then spray paints the ceiling.... Just heard from Tom and Beth they are having a ball they have spent every day since Tuesday racing from one end of the island to the other.....meanwhile the boys and I are being very sloth like I think the closest thing we have had to a "proper meal since they have been gone is a cheese and lettuce sandwhich, last night the boys had yogurt and I had nuts and an avocardo......

okay I have a problem I think I need to confess that I have an addiction and It needs to be addressed I have just spent over $100.00 on second hand books on Amazon....all of them necessary really.... I have been good and I have been keeping my local librarian very busy and happy ordering books in from all over the country but some times you need to own the book so you can go back to it or lend it to others ....no really....no I cant just photocopy the relevant chapters.....cause its just not the same climbing into bed with a sheaf of papers stpled together nor as imnpressive as filling up shelves and shelves with books I have too read all teh books on my shelves who told you I hadn't

If a book is a good one, in my opinion, it can get 2 to 10 or so reads. So, for your addiction and the $100, I can only ask, did you get atleast 20 or more books?

I roasted a small bit of moose, and the broth from that, some veggies, the meat and some sausages (very spicey) of the same beast are now simmering on the stove-top as a stew. The broth thickened to gravy texture.

Ah, reference material as opposed to novels and such then? Or were they classic literature that really needs a sturdy, hard-cover binding?

I can't moan because I have paid stupid prices for some once-a-decade reference books, bought numerous CD's for a single favoured track each, ... Heck, I've even been married twice. How silly is I?

aaahhh well its not exactly the mongol hordes but they are awake and on the move so I am heading for the garden the book case can wait I have decided better not to have wet varnish and small fingers and apparently a friend and her three will be on their way shortly.......

the books are an assorted lot reference for me and my work but standard books for most people I would hazard a guess, things like David's Elkands the Hurried Child and Einstein never used flash cards.....

Not silly just a romantic if you know something is good you keep trying for it sounds like you found it second time around

Tom and I are celebrating 25 years this year

now stop talking to me and let me go feed the ducks and chickens and plant the pansies and by the way after all this talk of food you have made me feel hungry either that or the lack of a proper dinner last night has think I will have avocardo on toast with sliced cherry toimatoes and cracked black pepper

You could give them all disposable latex gloves? That way, no one is stuck for long.

I am extremely proud of myself today I managed to take our trailer to the town tip....big deal I hear your male mind saying ......yes your right it is hooking it up and securing the sides of the box trailer that go on top were relatively easy I'll grant you, however I reversed it up to the train where we unload and I did not jack knife the whole thing. Once a month we have to take our trailer with all our house hold rubbish down to the freight train that pulls in to cart all the rubbish away and instead of Tom coming home to two months worth I did it...me litlle old me YEAH...

Have I mentioned that apart from all our water coming out of the sky, the roads being gravel and my having to cart our rubbish to town where I pick up our mail from the village post office we also may shortly be power independent with a bank of solar panels feeding into batteries thus producing all our electricity

Our own fruit and vegies eggs and at the rate the poultry is going soon our own ducks and chickens for eating though i am blowed if i know who is going to do the killing and the plucking......nononononono trailers and tips are enough for me

so whats new on your side of the world....we rang Beth and Tom in Singapore this morning to sing happy birthday to Beth and she responded mum my birthday is tomorrow we couldn't convice her that today was Saturday (least on our side of the world) then Tom gets on the phone and I told him and he goes no today's Friday so with all their rushing around they have somehow lost a day so they are intensifying their runing around to fit in everything before leaving tomorrow must be wonderful to loose track of time like that

We've been busy moving the furniture and clothes and stuff of a large'ish family into a HUUUUGE house. Sadly, I'm fairly sure that they will find themselves losing it in a year or two ... His income might well not carry the cost of it and the demands of kids that they have always pampered.

It sounds like you are becoming nearly a self-sufficient commune. With the water collection, the electric generation, the crops of veggies, fruits, poultry ... Once you get a couple of small herds, cows and pigs, let me know. I'll sign in, and tend the beasts. My labours and raw charm for meals and a bed. Milady is a and can make gourmet dinners from what-ever you can pluck from limbs, dirt or beasts ...
