G'day Ultimate_ sci,
My name is Feisor and I too am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) at h2g2, (there are lots of us)
I just noticed your posting in the "What news story has caught your attention today?" thread and thought that I'd leave you a hint 
H2G2 or Hootoo as we call it is like a big party with lots of conversations going on. Now, imagine yourself at a party, having an engrossing conversation with your friends about something interesting and someone you have never met barges in and says "relpy to my conversation for i have replied to many conversations but no one seems to have the manners to reply to mine 
where are you from? I am from one of the greatest cities ever :Liverpool!!"
I think that you will agree that, if you do get a reaction it's probably not going to be a good one
If, however, you introduced yourself politely, added that you were new here and tried to contribute to the general flow of what was being discussed, I'm sure that you'd get a better reaction
