Quel plaisir d'avoir de vos houvelles - ecrites dans un impeccable Francais! !. J'ai essaye de repondre a votre mel, mais malheureusement je n'ai pas pu le faire.

Je ne savais pas qu'on pouvais ecrire en francais - si l'on le traduisait. Je fais beaucoup de fautes avec mon autographe - il va falloir me pardonner, En plus je ne trouves sans mon dictionnaire francais - et je ne me rappelle plus des mots exactes.
Heureusement je peux encore parler!!

I did not know that one could write in french as long as one translated it. I make a lot of mistakes with my grammar - you will have to forgive me. I took French 1 at University and have never forgottn the first essay I wrote for our French professor.
I got -(minus)130 !for it. I was totally embarassed, until I found out that Ihad got the top marks. the other unfortunate first years could not speak French!!, Please note that there are no accents, cedilles etc. in my writing. I do not have these interesting signs on my keyboard. !!
Anyway, I shall enjoy talking to you in French, and hopefully reading any other researchers who want to contribute. We must promise NEVER to correct one another's French though!! Otherwise I shall stop
immediately.

Bonjour ma chère! Quel plaisir de trouver quelqu'un qui répondra à mes 'lettres'! J'ai passé l'après-midi au 'Playreading' groupe de l'U3A. C'ètait bien amusant.

Pour ce qui concerne les accents etc, tu dois chercher 'Character Map' (System Tools) où tu y trouveras tout ce qu'il te faut. Choisis celui dont tu as besoin, puis copie-le dans ton texte - et voilà!

G'day me dear! How nice to find someone who'll reply to my 'letters'. i spent the afternoon at the Play-reading Group. Great fun.

Talking of accents and so on, look for Character Map in System Tools; evrything you need is there. Pick the one you need, then copy it into your text and, er, Bob's your Uncle! Not sure how to express this in French, but there's also a facility in Regional something or other (look in Control Panel) which changes the layout of your keyboard to match the language you're using. I only use it for Big Stuff, as I can't remember the layouts of each one I use, so have to use On-screen Keyboard, which can be s-l-o-w if you zap the keys on the screen rather than on the physical board. If anybody else reads this, they may have more suggestions. (Come on guys!)

Je n'étais pas vraiment perdue! Je suis ici depuis de longues semaines, et surtout je suis contente de te revoir. Malheureusement, cependant, on va quitter la maison demain, pour aller passer huit jours environ à notre petite hutte dans le Suffolk. J'espère bien qu'il fera plus chaud qu'à present, car nous n'y avons pas de chauffage centrale! Tu me liras de nouveau lors de notre rentrée à la maison.

I wasn't really lost! I've been here for quite a few weeks, and I'm certainly pleased to see you again. But unfortunately we're off tomorrow to stay in our Shed in E. Anglia. I hope it's going to be warmer than it is at the moment, because there's no central heating! You'll be able to read me again when we get home.
