I've been lurking around, looking for somewhere to stable my hobbyhorse. If you're considering offering a stall, please be assured that he's a gentlemanly 24hh skewbald, with a back like a comfy sofa upon which I and my artificial hips may happily ride. He's telepathic, so there's no need for bit, bridle or reins; we wander at will (mine) through the dense under- and overgrowth of the English language, hurdling anomaly and omaly alike, steeplechasing where consistency and inconsistency challenge the unwary.
Where to start? With 'A', of course. Let's canter through the alphabet seekinbg words with a particular orthographic phenomenon,
eg 'ph:
aphasia, biography, cenotaph...and so on.
Or we might try verbs which use a multitude of prefixes with the same stem, eg 'sist'
On these rambles, the route may develop rocks, making passage difficult. Look what I do then:
assist, consist, desist, insist, persist, resist, subsist, transistOR.
The next stage is to collect nouns with the same stem, so I'm only jumping the gun very slightly.

Hello! I was wondering what had happened to you, as well! It appears that we're both as normal as we claimed to be, just out of touch/joint/sync or whatever! I thought you were about to globetrot, so I didn't chase you wildly. Did you go away? How are you? We have certain worries, which we expect/hope/ trust will be resolved next week. Till then all fingers are crossed.

Hello Webbie.
Not resolved exactly, but progress is being made, I think. Why does everything take so long? Six weeks for a letter to get from the hospital to the GP, who is now on holiday. Happily the nurse is quite capable of dealing with the problem, but then the script had to be signed....it had been sorted before we went away, so why not signed then to be collected today? As it is, we have to wait till Wednesday to collect it, then 5 days till the injection. I'm so frustrated I feel sick, but daren't crack for his sake. Sorry to unload, I know you have your own issues (to coin a cool phrase?) I hope these are diminishing?
ATB, Dig
