Firstly - please don't worry about your earlier postings - the wonderful thing about life is that we are all changing - and it sounds like you were pretty typical You have two options really - you can either remove any reference to your other pages and start again and just forget it ever happened (isn't that great - I wish we could do that in real life) or you could reclaim your other page - edit it - delete any journals and rename yourself and start again there - it's entirely up to you ....

Or, if you email [email protected] with all the details you can remember from your old account - the U number, the email address, the titles of some of the entries you wrote - then they can sort it out

I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place all over again - things have probably changed quite a lot since you last "freak-wented" the place

It should keep you busy for a while I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know

Heheheh, believe me, I know too!!! :D I spent two or three years fixated on h2g2 after all. I used to dream in Classic Goo

And here I am, actually needing to be shown the ropes again.. it's really quite a silly feeling But thanks for the links! h2g2 seems as super as ever!

I think I'll probably leave it for a while... Maybe go back and be me old self in a few years time It's just embarassing to think that I was ever such a typical teenager But I'll get over it

Is it actually possible to delete journal entries now? Or merely to remove them from the Space?

It really does seem like a lot has changed... Mostly the smileys. it's going to take me forever to remember them all! And to think I used to actually say "peacedove" in real conversation

How come the Scouts and Aces lists are... ridiculously outdated? I see people on those lists whom I know for sure haven't been here for years and years.

Answers:

Yes you can remove journal entries from your space there's an option at the bottom of each entry - I'm sure the survive somewhere on the system but at least you don't have to look at them

What I did with the smileys was to print them into a word document for easy reference - the more you use them the easier they are to remember - the ones I always remember is and - sort of says something doesn't it?

The volunteer lists are out of date because, unless they've resigned the volunteers stay there - that, and the fact that the Beeb has reduced the number of Italics who "look after" us - I think, at this stage we are down to three - most of them have been moved to other areas of the Beeb - but we love the ones that are left

I noticed the lack of Italics!! I don't know any of the new people... and I saw that Abi and Peta and Mina are now gone from the staff. What lovely lovely ladies they are! I wonder if h2g2 can ever be the same without them!

Hey that's a good idea with the word document! I might print them all out and stick them to my wall actually I don't want to think about how much paper and ink I'd have to use though, since I'd need to supersize them... (The wall is far away; I'm short-sighted; I don't wear glasses in front of the computer! )

Abi Peta and Mina may be gone from the staff - but not from hootoo - you'll find the occasional or odd post (and in Mina's case I DO mean odd ) appearing here and there - they are as addicted to this place as I am

Aye, I noticed that too... but it's sad that they are no longer teh Powers That Be! Ah well.

It's a lot quieter around here than it was I'm sure? Where do all the people hang out nowadays? I keep seeing "Last posted 4 weeks ago" ...
