I'm sure glad I didn't have to come up with how to depict the weather here in southcentral Pennsylvania. Talk about a tough assignment.
Why don't they make your names links to your U-pages?
Getting here to say thanks was much more difficult that it should have been. But of course, getting here with a complaint would have been equally difficult so perhaps it's a Good Thing.

As it happens, I was mostly raised in Bucks and Montgomery Counties in PA, so I just knew what you were talking about. It just never occurred to me that our weather was so extreme.
I'll mention that about the U numbers on the CA list.

I didn't either until Mina questioned why I lived in a place where the weather was so intense...
It got me thinking and look what resulted.

So where in PA are you? My maternal grandparents lived in Skippack, my dad's parents in Cedars, and we lived in Sellersville, then in a rural part of Worcester township not far from Norristown.

Middletown, just a stone's throw to the east of Three Mile Island.

I had to go and look it up (my atlas is in Chicago ).
I left Pennsylvania for England after 3 years at Kutztown State, and I didn't come back to the USA for a long, long time. But while I was still at home I was deemed to young to be driving around by myself, so I never did any individual exploring of the countryside. Always a passenger. So I don't know whether your part of the state is mountainous or flat or piedmontish like my own part.
In the past few days (changing the subject) I find myself drawn over and over to the EG feedback arena, to the detriment of my RL productivity. I know I shouldn't, but it's like looking at a train wreck. I hadn't realised that there were people thinking of Hootoo's population in terms of a caste system.

I live on the flatish part but the mountains begin just 15 miles to the north.
And I keep reading those same threads and shaking my head. Unlike you, I *did* use the linda button for the first time ever in there. It's amazing how far we've come ( but not in a good way).
That democratic ethos is part of what I love about h2g2. I've got some badges and I've written a bunch of entries, but I truly don't consider myself any different than somebody who is just starting out.
It really is a high school kind of mentality (which isn't surprising considering the age of the Researchers proposing some of the divisions in Researcher 'status'). And I don't mean that as an insult, but when you've got high school aged Researchers proposing cliques like you'd find in a typical high school, it shouldn't come as a big surprise.
I doubt that TPTB will go along with these 'caste system' suggestions...
I'm probably a day or two from unsubscribing from all this nonsense, writing a scathing journal entry and moving on with things.

As a CA, I'm having trouble not taking some of the more egregious rants personally. My parents, if they were still around, would soon tell you how vigorously I resist being "improved"!
I have suggested to TPTB that there should be a residency requirement for joining any of the volunteer schemes. It seems that only several months of "citizenship" can tell whether or not an entity will be a constructive addition to any team.
