Eh, being sick sucks. Especially when you've got 200+ papers to grade.
But that's okay, because I'm going on my first official business trip as a teacher next week. It's kind of exciting. Makes me feel like a real teacher or something.
Thanksgiving is almost here, and I'm also excited about that. Don't know why...it'll be real small and simple this year. Maybe it has something to do with four days off in a row.
Note to self: re-evaluate whether to try to teach "House of the Spirits" to Freshmen next year. Oh, and do some research on how to teach a multi-level classroom.

09/2004 Update
Posted Sep 25, 2004
It's really rather trippy to sift through the random things I've left hanging in cyberspace all these years. It never ceases to amaze me how much your life can change in just a couple of years.
Since my last guide entry, I graduated college, got engaged, joined to work force, went back to school to get my teaching credential, broke off my engagement, and am currently teaching English, reading, and study skills in an inner city high school in San Francisco.
Humboldt's 300 miles feels more like 1,000; in time, it feels even longer.

Wow. It's amazing how much life changes in a few months. "The Secret Garden" is done with. "Road to Nirvana" is only beginning to be travelled...and will that road lead to the Santa Fe Opera this summer? It's hard to say, unless some magic is worked upon the ddates that determine either A)their season or B)when Fall semester starts. What will the Fates weave...

Wow. It's been a while since I've come back to the Guide, but I missed it so!
I had a reasonably boring summer--which was much needed after the horror of last semester--Hunting Cockroaches! Not to mention finals...all terribly traumatic stuff which I'm not quite ready to discuss yet.
However, it's a brand-spanking new semester, I've got 17 units, an undeffered student loan, a job as one of two Master Electricians for our big theatre, no love life, a social life that's only a mite more active than my love life, but, hey, isn't this what college is all about?
Oh yeah, and did I fail to mention my new addiction to Doctor Who (for all you poor fellow Americans who have never heard of the good Doctor, we have been deprived of one of the greatest Sci-fi series in the history of television! Combine the brilliant camp of classic Star Trek, *real* philosophical issues, the wonderful wit of the English and some exciting plots and you've got "Doctor Who").

yes, it's been a long time since my last entry, but suffice it to say that i'm still alive, with perhaps slightly less of my sanity in place than before. such is the way of life, i suppose.
"Jerusalem" over, i am now stage managing "Hunting Cockroaches," a play by a polish playwright januz glowacki (i think i spelled that right...i'm feeling much to lazy to actually look it up). it's my first stage managing experience, and, well, what can i say. i'm basically doing everything at once, one arm and one head short of what i could use. the usual.
also, am leaving for denver tomorrow to go to the USITT conference. USITT is the United States Institute of Theatre Technology. So it's basically a really big gathering of professional and student theatre geeks. that's a lot of maglites! ah...heaven...
to do this, i'm missing a week of school. this bites. my professors, while not too sticky, are not pleased. well, can't cheese all the professors all the time.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
