Why tricky? For all to see - and I might add I took it off one of the many threads...And the mail I sent did not come back so it did arrive somewhere and was not lost in cyberspace. That being said, haven't had a reply but have a feeling the poor woman has been receiving quite a few emaiƶls on the Save GW subject!

No, I meant the email would have been easy for me to work out if I'd been thinking.
Silly billy, me.
Well she might get another before the weekend is out .

Hello you

Cad,
Thanks for that link. Am keeping this Don't panic thread though. The threads all get submerged with a lot of superfluous stuff. This one is still clear of that.
That being said, the two alternative sites are not good, not bad. Both have their shortcomings. However, they are providing a lifeboat for the GW members and many have joined one or both. The numbers are rising rapidly on writers' dock which is probably the better of the two as a WRITERS site but would need a strong hand to get it right. It can, however, take on an unlimited number of members. Something anneymouse on msn cannot do.Neither of these is really "user friendly" although Writers' Dock has got a lot of features that even GW doesn't have.
I just wondered if one of these could not become a starting place for you?
If not, your idea as exposed to SKB would have to be set up fairly quickly now. Otherwise it won't be up and running in time to act as a true alternative for GW..The idea of paying a subscription was evoked, in the beginning of all the chaos when the news first fell, and mst people were prepared to pay for this except one or two who felt that as they paid the BBC licence they saw no reason to pay for GW. On a good new site, I think they would be prepared to pay something.
Not sure about the idea of having it open for all readers. Wonder about copyright issues in this case. On GW we retain the copyright of all our work and should anyone want to indulge in plagiarism, the BBC logo might make them think twice. This is an issue that you would have to consider on a completely "open" site... Easier to control on a members' site basis.
Just a few thoughts...

Thanks, my suspicion is that WD and anneymouse will not want to talk to someone with a commercial hat on. They have the market so why would they want to talk to some interfering bright spark etc?
But might give it a go.
Anyway, got to cut through hot air (?? whaft) starting with Beeb

Clarissa,
I have brought you a few freshly baked rolls for your breakfast.
Dough woven by my own hand.
Thank you for your pleasant company by the sea.
Hope you like them.
Good morning,
