A kid in a candy shop

Well it's approaching the last week in August and I have just been given the budget for my Freshers' Week quizzes. After years of pleading they have finally just given me a monetary budget to enable me to cutom pick the prizes rather than go for what the current committees think would work best. Only one problem... what do I buy.

Obviously as it is a pub quiz I need to get some sort of alcohol. Bottle of vodka? Pitcher of beer? Lifetime supply of Smirnoff Ice? Think I'll play safe and give out something like 10 drinks for the winners and then some for for second and third. Should mean everyone can get something they like.

But that's just half my budget! Suddenly I don't know what to do with the rest. Some sweets for whoever comes last as a consolation prize, that's pretty much a given. Leaves me with around £45 or so. What do you get for that sort of money?

DVD players are cheap at the moment, but can't really be split amongst a team of four or five. Could always get some music, but then my tatse is so bad I'd probably pick up Here'Say by accident. And noone seems to go for books these days.

So many choices, but no idea what to buy. Every argument has its pros and cons, and every decision is met with doubt. No doubt this is the downside to having creatve control... but I wouldn't have it any other way. smiley - biggrin
