h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm going to try to type this out without getting myself in trouble with the American Privacy Act...though I don't think my employer will ever read this lol. Anywhoots...I work for a local Credit Union as a Loan Officer. Yesterday, this guy came in wanting to buy a motorcycle. Not only that, but I also got him to switch his checking account to our institution, have his paycheck electronically deposited into his accounts with us, signed him up to use online banking and to receive his monthly statements via email, and got him to get Credit Disability insurance and GAP insurance on the loan. It was a really choice score. But he's a really nice guy too and I like helping nice people. The trouble with him was his income was too low in relation to his debt and he wanted to borrow more than the bike was worth. So I worked up the loan, sent it to our review department, and they (of course) denied it. But while I was looking back over it today trying to find a way to get them to approve him I noticed that even though I figured his income based on a 40 hour work week, he made a good 52 hours on his last paycheck. So I called him and sure enough he works at least 48 hours a week guarenteed. So I went back and redid his debt-to-income ratio and it went way down, just from those extra 8 hours. So i sent it up again after I talked to the review department and explained the whole kit and kaboodle to them and they approved him. I was so excited! I worked hard to get this dude approved and I was so happy that they did actually approve him. So I called him and let him know and he came in this evening to sign the note yeah? And after everything was all done I got up to shake his hand and...he hugged me. Which was kind of creepy, I have to say. But at the same time, it made me feel really good to know I was able to help him out like this, because this bike was his dream bike. I swear, I thought he was going to cry when he left lol. So yeah...today was a good day for me. Yay!

Yay for you! Great when you are able to do something to help someone out like that - sounds like you're in the right job to do so too.
