and he shows them pearly white

and he keeps it out of sight."

That must be pretty annoying to be limited only to this site.
Right, here it goes:
Oh the shark has pretty teeth dear
and he shows them pearly white
just a jack knife has MacHeath dear
but he keeps it out of sight
You know when that shark bites with his teeth dear
scarlet billows they start to spread
fancy gloves though has MacHeath dear
so there's never, never a trace of red
On a sidewalk Sunday morning
lies a body oozing life
someone sneaking round the corner
is that someone Mack the Knife
From a tug boat down by the river don't you know
a cement bag is just a droopin' on down
the cement's there, it is there for the weight dear
I'll bet you five to ten old Mackie's back in town
Louis Miller, now he disappeared babe
after drawing out all his hard earned cash
Now MacHeath spends like a sailor
did our boy now do something rash
Sukie Tawdry, Jenny Diver
Polly Peachum and Lucy Brown
Now the line forms on the right dear
now that Mackie's back in town
Sukie Tawdry, hey Jenny Diver
look out for Polly Peachum and dear old Lucy Brown
yes the line forms on the right dear
now that Mackie's back in town
Well, that's the first song from the Drei Groschen Oper (1928) by Bertold Brecht and Kurt Weill, translated into English and sung by Louis Armstrong among others.
The 'Three Penny Opera' as it is called in English is based on the work of an Englishman, John Gay's The Beggar Opera (1728)!
The Doors used lyrics of Brecht/Weill like the Alabama Song (from the play The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny, 1931). The Doors changed some of the lyrics but not much. Not very surprising as Morrison studied Theatre Arts at the university.
Well, that's it for now. I hope you can use this information.
