hullo there, Doc!
Just thought I would drop in and visit. Looks like you have redecorated since the first time I passed this way. It's austere, but nice. Just hope those fish don't turn bad...
As a lifelong admirer of Mr Carroll [aka Dodgson] I find that it is possible to find parallels to much of life within his works. I am also particularly fond of the Cheshire cat. Therefore, I find the postscriptum to serve quite well to draw meaning from the seemingly meaningless grind of life. At least it explains a lot for me.
As I am also an admirer of the Saxophone I thought I would come and chat under less formal conditions.
It's not uncommon to offer refreshments, and I havent come empty handed. Care for a gingersnap? Brownie?
*munch, munch*
*gulp, smak*
So how is your life in the Guide coming?

Welcome. Sorry for the lack of hospitality. I've been travelling, not much time for chit chat.
Dodgson's oeuvre offers much amusement though I've never tried to penetrate his semiotics and deeper implications. Was he really the pederast that some say? In the Carrollian mode is the new film "Being John Malkovich" which I saw last week. What a surreal hoot. Obvious rabbit-hole references.
As I say, not much time for the Guide right now though I have started thinking about a saxophonic entry. I can't criticize the current authorized saxophone entry without attacking the writer. His spurious comments are too ill-informed. The alto is the most common horn? I think not. My voice, by the way, is the tenor, though I also have a beautiful soprano.
And watch the crumbs on the lovely blue carpet.

Hullo.
No apologies necessary, I pop in and out of here as well.
Re any Carrollian pederastic tendencies: this has been debated [hotly by some]. My personal feeling is, who cares? I also dont care about Tolkein's sexual preferences, either [or was that T.H. White's sexual preferences???]. It really doesnt affect my enjoyment of their work. For that matter, just because a lonely bachelor enjoys the company of little girls, does not [necessarily] make him a pederast, but I refuse to be dragged into that debate.
Thanks for the 'Being John Malkovich' note. I always enjoy allusions to Alice in various mediums. Adds dimension to the work, I think. I look forward to seeing it in the near future.
Re the Saxophone: I really think you should just do an entry. No matter that there are others. You do not have to attack the other author, or even refer to it. Yours can stand on it's own merit. There are other subjects this happens with, as well. Actually, I think it is interesting to see scholarly/factual articles as well as more personal ones on the same subject. They both add to a definition of the subject. And if both are submitted to be 'approved' Guide entries? Well, let the editor figger out what the 'tone' of the guide needs. Your entry will remain, even in addition to your edited 'official' version if you wish.
Wonder what the projected size of the server space for the Guide is???
hmmmmmm.....
Nice carpet, too. I think I have one the same shade of blue, myself.

In truth I am also indifferent to an artist's personal quirks. I am only interested in the immediate experience of her work. Some of my favorite artists have variously polymorphous reputations. (Drug addiction, astimagtism, general swinishness - who really knows what they thought, felt, saw?) Sometimes this kind of information can cast interesting light on a work though usually it is a matter of speculation. It was an idle question, I confess.

Agreed.
Well, good luck with your article if you attempt it. If you are ever visiting my area of the Guide, drop in. The kettle is usually on and there are some kinda cookies about. Sometimes there is even something stronger, too.
My home is sorta eclectic, but there might be something there to interest you. Although my musical abilities are pretty much limited to being the audience.
yer friend,
