So, what part of the great city are you from, Captain? I'm up in Thornton. Its always nice to find a fellow Denverite on H2G2! Not nearly enough of us around... smiley - winkeye

I'm about as downtown as they come. I'm right across I-25 at Colfax & Federal, and I work on Wazee.
I understand you're a theatre person, so I thought you'd be interested in a production of "Present Laughter" by Noel Coward, opens January 6th at the Denver Civic. Let me know.

By the by, do you have any lunch recommendations for the downtown area? I've eaten at Rodizio (great) and Red Fish (decent Cajun) recently, and I'm looking for a little less expensive. 10 Q in advance.

Very cool! Actually, I might be interested, very much! Noel Coward is one of my faves! And, BTW, how ever did you guess that I am interested in theatre? You are correct, but I don't remember ever actually mentioning it... smiley - smiley

Ah, that's right. YOU never told me. A little bird... actually, more like a really big utensil. A spork, to be exact. He liked my bit about the mimes. Ooh! Marcel Marceau impression!

I guess it kind of depends on what you like to eat. Tabor's Food Court isn't too bad - Bennett's Bar-B-Q is actually quite good most of the time. They also have a Falafel King. Yum! smiley - smiley There's a place just off 17th named Clancy's, I believe, which serves good food at a good price and darn quick! They also have a lovely story. Seems that Republic Plaza wanted to buy up the entire block they were being built on. Clancy's was the only business not to sell, so Republic Plaza had to build around them.

Sporky's quite a character, isn't he? smiley - smiley I once read an article on how mimes were being caught, tagged and then relesaed back into the wilds of NYC. I enjoyed it very much but could never find it again. smiley - sigh That and the image of the talking Marcel Marceau wax figure were always my two favorite images of mimes...

Yes, of course you can link to any of my stuff. 'twould be an honor.
Monday I ended up eating lunch with my friends, which made it really easy to decide. When I saw the snow I knew I wanted one of three places. The Rocky Mountain Diner at 18th and Curtis has great Venison Chilli, McCormicks at 17th and Wazee has a delicious lamb stew in bread bowl, and the Wynkoop Brewery on 18th has shepard's pie. All these are excellent meals that help keep you warm when the weather is not, so I tend not to eat these places during the summer. (I plan to more than make up for this deficiency in the coming months.)

I've heard tales of Wynkoop's shepard's pie but have yet to try it. With your recommendation, though, I shall have to brave the wilds of Downtown and try it! smiley - smiley
