Hi Emmily. Nice to hear from you again, and a very Merry Christmas to you and yours 
.
You mentioned my problems with Supply Teaching. In fact, I had no work whatever in September, and only 3 days in October. Clearly this was unsustaunable with a mortgage still to pay, etc, etc. Hence, last month, I took Early Retirement (with Actuarily Reduced Benefits). I am still allowed to teach - even full-time (without penalty) if I wished. This pays me a few hundred £s/month which makes it less critical that I actually get supply work every day.
However, in January, I have a new part-time teaching job to go to - at an independent international school about 18 miles from home. My blind step-mother lives en route, so I'll even be able to visit her more often. So things are looking up for the New Year 
(The problem with supply teaching has been the advent of 'Cover Supervisors' who baby sit classes. This is causig a decimation of supply teaching agencies 
.
