'Life is what happens to you when you're busy making other plans'- Beautiful Boy, John Lennon.
Just thought you might like to know the full quote.
Nice to meet you, I'm Elly and I'm a Pedant. It wouldn't be such a problem if everyone else were, too.
I just saw your comment on the What's Happening Outside Your Window thread and came by to say hi.

Fine thanks, Elly
I'm on vacation now from my lecturing job, so I've written two GE's, one on reindeer and the other on polonium (inspired by the Alexander Litvinenko episode!). The latter Entry was a 'spur of the moment' job, and it kept me up until 3.00 ythis morning!!! So, I think I should avoid hootoo for a bit now.
Lovely and sunny outside today

'tis indeed. Just bloody cold. I can't make myself sit and write these days. My computer is in my baby's room, so from 7pm on you can't use it. We're trying to move it to our room now, which is proving difficult and costly.
Do you read anything at the moment?

'Do you read anything at the moment?'
'fraid not. I'm so busy with my new job at the moment that I haven't time to settle to reading anything except the newspaper. Normally, however, I enjoy reading 'faction', e.g. books by Wilbur Smith, which are generally set in South Africa.

Wilbur Smith. My father-in-law reads (or read) his books. He has a whole box set of them at home. I like novels. I would read the odd sci-fi or fantasy novel too, but I usually like non-fiction... I'm getting confused with the terminology, I think. Don't like hollocaust and war books as they depress me (Jewish-Israeli, so heard far too much about the Hollocaust and had grandparents who lost most their families in Poland and Germany; did military service and lived through 6 or so wars). Started reading very big books at around 9, but then I was into adventure (Ivanho, Robin Hood, Vera Cruise Patrol, the Captive of Zanda etc.)these days I want stories that are 'real', if that's at all possible. I like Nick Hornby and Bernard MacLaverty.
