O fellow creature of the night...

My latest offering may be of interest to you. I felt like toying with a non-rhyming format and ended up writing a poem about sleepless nights.
My poem beneath it, hope springs, is another recent poem, though a much more abstract one. I'd be interested to see what you made of it.
But it's the Night Watch one that I thought may interest you.
P.S. Idle words soon transpire to nothing when they meet the crunch.

... And I thought that last word was 'crotch'...
Well, as ye know I've read and commented. Count yourself lucky as they've been the only poems I've reviewed this week.
Now, please do me a favour and sign up on the iCan Campaign and leave apost. You know where to get al the links, I would appreciate it. If you don't want to, no worries.
I'm away for the w'end and have a few wee things to futter with here first then must back away from the PC and pack etc...
And yes, I really liked the Insomania poem - perfect. Another hour and I'll be in full swing...
Also, glad to see that you and M made up -

Ah, you've been snooping, eh?
This is precisely why I sent you the email: God knows how many people would've read it and commented!
As for the Ican thing, I've already put my name on the list, but I haven't left a comment. To be honest, I doubt I will, because I read the "interesting stats" and it made me understand the BBC a bit more. I really want this to stay, but I can see why they're getting rid of it (that's not to say I agree with it, but I can see it's a business decision and perhaps the numbers don't match the investment).

Aye right, you read MY posts too, PeeWee!!
Or how would you assume so much know all on KJ etc...?
And anyway, none of you lot on that thread bothered to reply, so why should I even care, eh?
Anyway, energy is waning BUT I will do what little I can in these last realm of weeks even though this place is for the chop. At least I have not ran off and sworn alligience to other sites and given up. I do get what you're saying, but what do you mean about the 'stats' - are we reading the same ones??
It's ALWAYS got to do with money, power, politics and crap. Bloody typical, but sure it's to be expected, as it happens time and time again. Busturds.
Gotta go for a coffee, then REALLY need to finish up in here and get myself sorted out.
Hey, have you seen the list of authors etc.. who have backed us? Well, for one I'm happy at that.

I remember you posting on a thread but I can't remember what one now.
And no, I don't read threads on your pf. I've stumbled across things mainly; sometimes I'll be reading reviews and others I've seen a few poems that've been written about a certain someone
The stats I'm referring to are these:
Get Writing's proportion of above: 22,000 approx
Members using Get Writing per day: 750
Number of current active users: 2,000 estimated
2000 live users in the entire world? That would be bad numbers for just the UK, let alone the entire connected world. And how many of those are multi-posters, you know?
As I said, I don't agree with their decision, especially as less worthy sites are remaining, but I can see why they've chosen to do it. When you think how much time and money gets put into this that they could be using elsewhere.

As for pancake tuesday, what do I care? lol.

Ok. Right then. I'm too knackered to argue and my fingers are cold. (Still have not removed fat arse off comfy chair to go make coffee but will in a mo...)
As for those 'stats', that overall number is from Sept 2003 until now, most are dead and gone, so hardly worth quoting. Still at 2,000 it's damn good - no other like-wise site has as many members.
AND it's the members, the community who DO the work! Look around you! Yes, they provide the light and the corridors and the tables and chairs but we use them and keep them alive. What the fook am I talking about, anyway, aye, wot you said, kind of.
Pancake Tuesday - too late. Now Fire Day.
Must go now, PeeWee. And you never answered my question...
Take care with the nitol and catch ye soon,
Jen

Ah, yes, I was impressed. Stephen Fry was a particularly good catch (I like him). You should put them in order according to fame. I can't say I knew most of the names, but names are names.

PenJen Posted Feb 11, 2005
Spidey got Stephen Fry, and for that we have made it on to the main iCan page -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/ican/
I've tried to put the main authors at the top of the list in iCan, but as they are filtering in, not can do no more. As for knowing any - I knew all but the 2 female authors, but then I did sent about 15 to Mills & Goon writers and got them.
And I'm here this Saturday in Dublin. Scroll to bottom of page.
(That is WHY I have to pack and do some background research, although three of them I do know personally).

NOW, I really must go. Have 4-5hr bus journey in the afternoon and STILL have some book reviews to do for 9am...
Sleep well, Enig.
Catch ye about on Monday!

Just a shame most of the people I'd be interested in meeting aren't going. Sure, I know quite a few of them, but posting a message here and there and travelling for 3 hours to meet them is another matter lol.
