Dunno - do we need to find out who would be interested or just go straight to costs of venues? If it's going to be in Birmingham I can do that fairly easily.

What type of party? Are we hiring a room or restaurant/pubcrawl/nightclub etc etc?

I guess it depends on how many of us there'd be.

Well, from the looks of things there does seem to be a lot of activity on the threads at the moment. To mention this at the minute Ithink would just get out-of-hand to be honest. (Trolls under every cow-pat).

I guess that the two most popular venues would be London or Birmingham, and we would have to stress that it is 'Unofficial'.

Maybe put a thread up to ask who would be in favour of a posibble 'unofficial/informal' get together before April.

I reckon this may take some time and organisation. Those intersted could put name and suggestions forward and once we have an idea of numbers and best location, plans can be formulated. (For those further afield - travel arrangements and accommondation; list of local B&B's etc...).

Do we really want the folk we already know or have spied on the threads? (fear of weirdos/troublemakers. Seen a few on site... smiley - winkeye
An open invitation to the GW community at large?
Pity that the folks from Oz, USA, etc wouldn't be able... Some of my best mates here are from there too. smiley - wah

One way to advertise to 'genuine' folk - besides those we know would be directly - is to the managers of groups set up here and for them to pass it on to their members.

E-mailing those we already have links to and what they would suggest. smiley - laugh

I think it would be great to make it more than just a pint down the local as folk may be coming a distance. Maybe a weekend - two nights maybe?
Some grub, pub-crawl, nightclub? Yeah - sounds cool.

Jen smiley - cheers

I know what you mean about the state of the site at the moment - with trolls etc - but we would have to point out people will have to pay for this - so that might cut out a few time wasters.

So do we go for a thread then and see how many are interested - I know I'm probably biased but I think we should avoid London - it's expensive to stay there and there has already been the official party there. Even if it was in Birmingham I would probably stay over in the hotel with everyone else (wouldn't want to drive for a start - live too far away for a taxi).

Also it might cheer everyone up - and we could ask people for suggestions of what they would like to do.

Yeah, I agree (plus I can get a direct flight from here to Birmingham - biased me? Nah!).

Also, it would be more acceptable for the Scot's, Northerners and Welsh perhaps. Us Irish can start saving now... Plus, it would probably work out a lot cheaper too. Always a good thing.

As for 'money' - that is going to be a difficult one as no doubt we will need to put a deposit on a venue or so? How do we grt round that?
Also it would deter potential troublemakers and if someone doesn't show - deposit will be non-refundable?

Guess there's no harm in starting a thread as soon as and maybe aim for this to happen around end of Feb or beginning of March? Easter is last w'end of March.

We could all do with some excitement and something to really look forward to before the site closes... smiley - magic

I think we should go for a message sooner - it'll take a bit to organise it so the sooner we get on with it the better.

I agree about the non-refundable deposit - it's the only way we would be able to hire somewhere - if we are looking at numbers over 20 I think we would have to go for hiring a room.

People would just have to trust us - lol!!!

So shall we compose a message then?

Kitty smiley - biggrin - dead excited now!!!

Something like:

Anyone up for an unofficial, informal meet sometime in Mid-Feb or March before GW closes in Birmingham?

Some of us have already been bouncing around the idea and think that it could well lift our spirits, (plus introduce a few new ones smiley - bubbly), and would be a great way to finally see the wee faces behind the monikers, if they really are 21yrs of age, what you think of them or basically say 'cheers'.

It could comprise of two nights - to accomondate those unavailable for one or the other, those travelling from a distance and for those who really like to party.

We could book a venue if the numbers are large, book a restaurant for a meal, do a pub crawl, go on to a night-club... whatever is most appealing.

No doubt this will take some organisation and those who would like to help would be most appreciated - ie; those that know the area or have appropriate contacts to decent places.

It has also been suggested that a 'deposit' may be viable to book a place. This will also deter any wasters plus show that you are commited for genuine reasons. Again this is something that will have to be looked into. Early days and justa thought. Also 'deposits' to be non-refundable too.

Hopefully, once a venue is agreed on, someone can check out a list of possible nearby B&B's and hostels to accommodate those travelling.

If you are interested, please post your name below and maybe where you'll be travelling from - your journey could be sghared with other GW's from your area or nearby.

Any suggestions too are most welcome.

Let's get this sho on the road, our time is running out and Ireally do need a good farewell sessio!
