Isn't this fun?
Will get around to commenting on your poems as promised, Jen.
Hope you had a great weekend, and can maybe even remember it...
I was at my granddaughter's second birthday party. I had no idea she was such an alcoholic mind you

Hello stranger!
Good to see there's some poetic fighting, delighting spirit in the throngs of the threads! I was HOPING to catch up on all the poetry i'd missed, yours included, tonight but just haven't got around to it, but I WILL!
And yes, 60 mad drunken relatives (well, minus 10 under the age of 6), until the wee small hours was brilliant! Am renmaining sober and sensible for the rest of the weakly week! (Yeah, right!) All the 20 and 30-somethings reverted back into teenage mode and disobeyed the parentsm, stayed out late, missed dinner, gave cheek, giggled, fell over, huffed and didn't comb the hair. All of us missed 'Mass' too (not that any of my immediate family go anyway, but Auntie Ryma doesn't know that!). We shall all be damned, as if not already!
Bet you're a cool Grandad! They're wonderful at the toddler stage, hyper but so sweet! What was the little darling drinking, prey tell? Some of Grandad's whisky perhaps?!
BTW, really liked your post back on the other thread, and as for the 'football' swipe, you scored a penalty!
Keep kicking, Roy Rover!

Well, for a two year old's party, there was a hell of a lot of beer and wine flowing. Only a dozen or so at this party, mostly early twenties, plus the four grandparents and a few under-threes. I was the only oldie who stayed on and slept over, on granddaughter's bedroom floor. Lying out in the garden before that, looking at the stars, usual inane drunken conversation... great fun, once the ex had left

Awh, you make me laugh! Can picture you starring at the stars and seing tripple, and more than a tipple of them too!
And it's so true - WHY is there always so much drink at kiddies parties/Christenings and you're lucky to get a pint and half a glass on your own?
I would have expected you to have got the cot after all that! Hope you didn't scare the little 'un the next morn!

I blamed the blurry skyscape on not wearing my glasses, but who knows?
The little'un slept with mummy and daddy that night, so she wouldn't scare me in the morning
I could have curled up on her bed, I guess.

There were three in the bed and the little 'un said 'roll over Roy, roll over Roy..'
You just can't beat the madness and loveliness of family gatherings, eh?
Were you not wakened at dawn to play with the grand-daughter's toys?
I had to play football for about 30mins with the young niece and nephew, but got the sack as I had NO coordination skills and decided to go indoors and help set the table, putting the second 'knife' wrong way facing out. Huh! Ah well, I did get off helping with the washing up after! There were 17 of us for Sunday dinner

I was awake first, I think. Not the softest floor in the world.
We played catch in the evening, but adults only. And I won. I don't like to boast, but I won, despite son-in-law trying to knock my teeth out with the ball...
I left before Sunday dinner, and we used paper and plastic plates and glasses for the party. Plenty of rubbish but very little washing up.

'Tis getting a bit crazy on that other thread! Can't seem to keep up! Afraid i'll say something I shouldn't, as if I haven't already!
