Posted the next part of Sunil. Been away for a week.

I wanted to link in Sunil, so that anyone reading it could pick up the first part. How do you do that?smiley - biggrin

Hi there Lurch!

Not too sure on how to do the linking but I have seen it about on the site. It is something to do with the 'A' number attached to the post.
You know, once you send the piece in for submitting and it then comes up in your 'conversations', there you'll find the 'A' code. I suppose you then copy it to the new piece of work and put it at top of article. I expect the link is then set up. Try it and see. Sorry I'm not much help. You could try asking it as a question on one of the forums in 'Round table'? good luck!

I also intend to read part two of 'Sunil' later! Looking forward to it!

Calvin,

I've just read and left a crit on 'Padma'. Word of warning though: my speel is rather long and I hope it doesn't put you off. You have talent, a keen eye, a great descriptive streak and I am really taken in by the develpment of the Sunil/Padma saga. Let me know what you think after the read and when you finish part three. You've started something definitely worth pursuing!

Okay my friend,

Sunil 3 is posted. I think you might not like this one - maybe I am feeling a bit delicate.

Thankyou for your kind comments - I am not sure about myself - but I like writing so I suppose that is half of the battle.

I have decided just to write the story and if anyone thinks it is any good, I will go back and edit / embellish it. There are several factual errors in the first part I will need to change. I would just like to get the story out.

By the way - don't spare my fragile ego - I am sure you will not.

Cheers

Have been a bit tied up at the moment (not in the way you may think, then again...). ANYWAY, I intend setting aside some special time late Wednes night to pursue the Sunil/Pagma saga and looking forward to it.
The most inspiring thing is that you have grabbed the bull (as in 'animal') by the horns and marched forthright! So what if he stumbles a little, gets stuck, losses direction - that is what we are all here for - to help out.
I promise that I will be HONEST and gentle, though I doubt that it will really need that much work. You've already got it in you, boy!

I'll get back to you soon!

Hey PJ

You've got a life to live - that's a shock as you put so much into this site - I thought you were a site wraithsmiley - erm - that lived to augment the ego of the underskilled like me.

I welcome your kind comments whenever they come. Thanks for caring,

Hi Calvin,

Have been off the posts for nearly a week. Have just read 'Baldey' but have not posted comment as didn't realise time and gotta get to work. Have made notes in pad though. Will post it up, if not tonight, then Wednesday. Sorry for such a delay. This is in NO reflection on you, just me being either lazy or busy, drunk or inaccessable. I intend to read the fourth part AND your other recent postings within the week. Good to see you're 'Flashing' as in spontaneous, timed writing!! The other variety 'tis up to you. smiley - winkeye

So you don't think my old 'folio is a bit OTT?! Was a tad bored and felt creative that idle moment. Pity same demise wouldn't spurn a few worthy words or two!
Anyway, hope all's well in Lurchdom and speak real soon! The 'large print' book borrowers need me! What we have to suffer to pay the bills!

Hey great to here from you again, thought you'd been abducted. I've got a few people reading Sunil but you were my original inspiration. Posted a couple of flashes - last night I only had 10 mins so did a 60 worder as suggested by Claire which is fun.

Look forward to hearing from you again.

Hey PJ

Read your piece on HSJ's crit. Thanks for sticking up for me but its not necessary - got a tough chin - if you can't take it don't give it - that's what I say. I've had worst things said to me - I run a company - I've had practise. Don't feel embarrassed - keep doing what you are doing - your enthusiasm is infectious. And anyway maybe he's right, although a bit ungracious with it. To be honest I found his reply more invigorating than his piece!smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin

Tough chin? I'm sure you could kick ass!

It just really pissed me off and I felt bad, as you all so kindly took a look. Ah well, have said my piece/peace!

He's a really decent guy, HSJesus. I was just surprised at his response. You're a cheeky one with your last line! smiley - laugh

Anyway, had shite day at work and HAD to vet it out somewhere! Thanks for the encouragement, BOSS!
Have to quit the boards now, will read part 4 over w'end and I WILL be posting up some own written stuff, if you're interested. Will take ALL feedback on the CHIN-GRIN!! (Please don't be mean, though!) smiley - tongueout !!

See ya,

Calvin,

So SORRY that I haven't honoured my promise to read the continuing tales of 'Sunil'. Have been away for last few days and now back with a burst of energy and eager to catch up and read. Will be doind so, for sure, this week! Promise!
I haven't been neglecting you, it's just I'm a lazy sod and have been reading poetry more so as is easier and quicker to read and crit, God forbid!
So expect to her from me later in the week.
Also check this out:
GW may be producing an 'anthology' of some sort, whether on-line or in printed form in August/September. Check the convo link in the 'Round Table' under 'Word Play' called: 'GW Short story anthology proposal...' , or from my link in my convos. Is at bottom of my list on first page. (I do not know how to get the A******* link for it). I have posted a few comments on it. It sounds great if it takes off. Let us know what you think. Definately worth finding out about and pursuing. Is exciting too to ignore. Spread the word around too.

Have a wonderful week and I'll be back real soon.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/getwriting/F1704378?thread=455252 I think this works, right click, copy shortcut. I think in general the editorial team should do more with this site. It is such a great concept and there is some wonderful work on here. They could set up their own publishing house with some of the writers on here who are very talented. The site does lend itself to shorter stories, poetry etc rather than anything longer and lets face it this is what sells and actually that is what I am interested in. 3000 words is a bit of a limiter to get a plot, characters in. Perhaps for such an anthology of short stories they should up the limit to 10000 words and have ten good stories. The editor seems to be promising a web site redesign rather than an anthology. I was interested to read your comments, I pick up your conversation threads up often andI got the rough idea of what you do - you always complain about the quality of what you have to push! Could you not contact those authors direct and get something published with your contacts. I know a publisher - he was my best friend at school - recently saw him for the first time in 12 years. Unfortunately he works for a non fiction publisher - he does all the non travel rough guides. He was saying that the fiction world is all about getting in touch with the literary agents rather than the publishers direct. I would be glad to help anyway I can, the Beeb must have good contacts with publishers - you are probably more in the know than me. Just my thoughts for what they are worth. Anyway back to Sunil, I am getting to some of the more fun stuff to write and I have drummed up a bit of interest. Speak to you soon. Look after yourself, I am glad you are back. Calvin

Hello there early bird, (or late owl as it is in my case!)

You raise a lot of very valid points above and do I really complain so much? Huh! Will have to work on that!
Strangely enough, I do have a few things in the pipeline but it is still too early to get excited about. Don't want to tempt fate, although I do think there should be so much MORE done in regards to the wealth and breadth of talent evident on this site. Should be encouraged to dive into the waters outside, rather than dip within the comforts of GW alone.

I think this must bethe first time we've been on line at the same time. Weird, eh?
ANYWAY, I'll not keep you back. Get on with the writing and I'll be in touch soon! Good morning and all that too! (Bleeding freezing and all as it is here!)

Jen smiley - biggrin

PS: How did you get the details of that convo? I have tried to locate a A**** but couldn't see any. Bugs me.

Answer to your PS

Hover over the link, right click your mouse, this will bring a menu up, choose copy short cut. I always use it. I don't think anything other than works have A numbers.

Its not surprising we are not online at the same time - I am usually asleep!

Anyway I am determined to write Sunil then look at the possibilities! I want to finish something first, that is not necessarily what some of the writers are known for here I think - just an impression - finishing I mean.

Anyway got to go - my Chairman is on the prowl.smiley - biggrinsmiley - biggrin

Hi Calvin,

I've been off the threads for a few days, PC blew up on Friday - now fixed, so i didn't honour my promise to catch up over the w'end, sorry. Will tonight.

Thanks for the helpful tip too. That said anthology thread has now moved to: http://www.bbc.uk/dna/getwriting/F1660789?thread458245. If you're interested pay attention to post 14. A few have expressed an interest so far, so come join us.

Wil catch up with you soon, Sir Lurch!

Hi my friend,

Glad to hear you are back on line - PCs can be a sod from time to time. I am very lucky having company kit!

Your link doesn't work, I think you must have right clicked within the conversation rather than over the title of the thread. I'll have a look and see what you have done and have see whether everyone is behaving themselves!!

I am writing chapter 8. Rather than giving me a detailed crit on every bit, just ahve a read and see whether you like it. Chapter 8 is going to be a bit graphic - I hope I don't turn anyone off.

Anyway speak to you soon.
