Hi Pit! Would you be interested in a German meet-up

Hi Pit - I think we've met once or twice on various threads.
We're planning our (by now traditional) German Researchers Spring Meet Up - you can find the conversation etc, here

Sounds fine - if I can find the time (or, rather, the money)...

same here - but we usually find a way...
You could always make a pitch for having it where you actually are - if it's not Koblenz, Köln, Frankfurt or Düsseldorf (which is where the last 4 were) you'd probably have a good chance!

Well, that would be Hannover - if there are not too many of us I can find a pub where loonies are the norm.

I have them all thank you! that's a kind offer
Actually, right now, I'm reading the last of them for ab0ut the 4th time before I put them away for at least a decade (they are my brain candy books)
Have you read them? Did you like them?

I´ve read a few - that was back when foreign books were hideously expensive. Nowadays they aren´t, but my pocket money is down to 10% of what it was, so I have to be cafeful. Got quite a lot of Cornwell, though. And of course the complete Flashman Papers.

Oh I remember the days of hideously expensive English books - my library is full of things I wouldn't otherwise have read (hence my love of Salman Rushdie)
I'm so happy to be able to get a huge range of books that I do want to read, via the interweb.
How did you like Flashman? I read the first one but wasn't overly impressed. So I started on Hornblower (upon whom Sharpe was sort of based) which I love. I'm getting them slowly becuause when they are finished i don't know how I'm going to get my fix of that type of novel.
Unless you can recommend a German equivalent... oh! there might be a gap in the market for me. That's probably what I should be writing instead of my terrible teen novel. A German Sharpe!
