Ni hao Angela .
We appear to be having problems with this site . That is why I have unsubscribed from the original thread entitled “Greetings Angela_w_s465”, best not to use this one again. Stay with this thread please.
I’m not certain just what you received, I know you have all three postings ... oops, , but am not certain if they were complete.
I answered your thread regarding your surprise that we have Chinese grocery shops in the UK. Well as I explained Chinese food is held in great esteem in my country. It has been for many years. When I took a young lady for an evening meal, for the very first time, I chose a Chinese restaurant, it was a great success.
Please feel free to speak to me any time you wish.

How are you?
Thank you for your message,I am happy to see your message,I still can see the messages you sent before.
To tell the truth ,I like chinese food best, but of course ,I like Japanese sashimi,(eat fish without cooking it),do you know? The famous Japanses food.It is really delicious.
O~~~,what is your favourite food?
Recently I am also talking with a Japanese mid aged housewife on internet, she is a very nice person, anyway,I think so,her daughter is at same age with me.He is studying English and do a lot of volunteer.Read stories for the retarded kids...
I am really enjoy in talking with different person, that broaded my mind and my outlook
Sometimes if I became blue,I always try to tell myself that there are a lot of beautiful things in the world.Have you seen the movie?A moving story about a boy and his kind father?
So wish you have a nice day
See you

Ni hao Angela ,
I have had a little difficulty over the last few days posting on this site, all seems now since I unsubscribed from the old thread; I have had to do the same with others.
Chinese food is one of my favourites also, but as for eating raw fish, I’m not too sure about that! I do not know of any of my friends who would eat raw fish! Most people in the UK would find eating raw fish unpalatable . Maybe I will try it some time, maybe.
You have asked what is my favourite food … mmm…? Well I think I have to say it is what ever I am eating at the time. I like Spanish food (especially from the Catalan region), Chinese food, Italian food, French food (though this can be a little rich in flavour), Indian food, Thai food and of course UK food.
Good home made food is hard to beat. We like to bake our own bread at home; our daughter is very good at this and enjoys it enormously.
In our country we have farms where you can go and pick-your-own (we call these farms PYO) fruits and vegetables off the bushes or out of the ground. When you have picked all you want you pay for the them as you leave.
Now these Pick-Your-Own farms can be a great fun day out for the family. My whole family goes, taking a picnic meal with us (picnic = food prepared at home and eaten outside), and hot and cold drinks in thermos flasks. When we have finished collecting all the fruits and vegetables we need, then we have our picnic in the sun shine. After our picnic we usually have a game of football between the three of us, or go for a walk in the fields; our daughter loves this for a day out. Our favourite fruit is strawberries eaten with lots of cream.
We always pick a lot of fruits so we can make our own jams and preserves at home; they are very tasty when eaten with our home made bread.
I have explained the above so you may have a miniature picture in your mind of a small piece of our way of life; I would think family life is much the same the world over.
It is good you are talking with others; it will broaden your mind, and give you a deeper understanding of other people and their cultures. You said you speak with a nice Japanese lady who has a daughter the same age as you, which is good; it will help to improve your Japanese.
I have not seen the film, “Life is beautiful”, I very rarely watch films; preferring to do other things instead.
Angela, if ever you feel blue or sad please do not hesitate to speak with me. Never bottle things up inside, it is very bad for you. Hey!! If ever you want to scream and shout at someone, try me I will not mind!

hi,Clip
How is everything going with you?^^
You a such a kind person,thank you!!!
Thank you for your detailed description of your life ,that made me a bit jealous of you, your family,I can image a sunny, happy, healthy family...you are enjoying your life^^...I wish one day I can have such a family like you^^hahaha,,,,But I donot even have a boyfriend now,my family maybe worried about me,because in China,I have been 25 years old,It is time for girls to talk about marriage in China. And my uncle has asked me to find a boyfriend many times.hahaha,,,,,but until now,my fate for love havnot come yet,I think.hahaha,,,,,As a famous Chinese author says in her book :there are must be a peron in the world who is waiting for you.Is there anybody can tell me who is waiting for me or I am waiting for whom?hahaha,,,,,
Your life style is very healthy, and you make fruite jam and bake bread by yourselves, sounds interesting and meaning, I like cooking, but I am very poor at cooking and seldom cook, what I can do is to put everything into the microwave oven, that caused me a laugh stock in my friends.
After I came to Japan ,I really regreted that I didnot learned some Chinese cooking.or I can show to my foreigen friends
Hahaha,,,,,but i am sure I will ,oneday I have my own family.
You said you'd prefer to do other things,What kind of things you would like to do ?
and can I ask you what is your blood type?In Japan, the Japanese like to ask other's blood type to judge his personality. In japan A is the most .
,Tomorrow is Sunday, after part time job,I can have spare time and i am going to meet my best friend in Japan who is from South Korea,um~~~~life is beautiful,~~~~~Tomorrow is nice dayzz`````
^^
You too,nice today and tomorrow
Good night

Ni hao Angela ,
Thank you for replying. I understand what you mean when you say that at 25 years old a girl is expected to be married and have a family; it is very much the same over here, but attitudes have changed slowly over the years. It is now more accepted for a young woman to pursue a career and then have a family, yet continue with her career as well.
I did not marry until I was 32 years old, which is very uncommon in the UK, even for a man. I was enjoying myself; camping, walking, photography and my dearest love of all my Kawasaki motorcycle…I loved that bike. Of course I courted a number of young ladies, but nothing serious, much to my parents’ dismay! All this changed when I met my wife, and I have been very happy ever since; but I never went looking for it/her, it just happened.
Somewhere, there is a soul mate waiting for you; it will happen, when YOU are ready and if YOU want this. One thing I have learned on my journey (after all, life is just a journey, we are only passing through) is you never know what is round the next bend; I find that rather exciting! If every thing was neatly laid out for us, and we knew in advance what to expect, this would be boring if not frightening.
Angela, you enjoy the time you are having, for the years will come and go and they can never be retrieved. Never look back and think, “…. If only …”, but tread carefully watch for the pitfalls. Grasp life’s experiences with both hands; thank which ever God you believe in for life’s great riches … and ENJOY!
Now as for this cooking business, throw away the microwave (I only use ours to warm up liquids) and buy a nice new wok with a lid … one of the finest cooking tools ever invented, you can cook an assortment of things in this. If you don’t know any recipes ask your mother to send you some, or buy a small book with lots and lots of lovely Chinese stir-fry recipes …Oh! my mouth is watering now just thinking about it. Practise a few times and then invite your friends round for a meal that you have cooked; now that certainly would impress them.
The things I enjoy is walking and fishing, though since the car crash that my wife and daughter were involved in, she has not been able to walk very much. It happened 14 months ago, our daughter was not seriously hurt, but my wife broke her neck, she is fortunate to be alive and not paralyzed from the neck down. Her recovery is slow but sure. I thank the Lord for every day I have them both.
So at the present time my over-riding passion is photography; some thing I have always loved, but gave up for a while. 18 months ago my wife bought me a new digital camera, I was hooked again. This Christmas she bought me a new one, even better than the last. It is great I can take all the photographs I want, discard the not-so-good ones, and then print them off on our PC. So, we go for long drives in the car to picturesque places and take many photographs. I am afraid I have become some thing of a 'bore' to my family with my new toy!
What part-time job do you have? Is it in a restaurant??? Enjoy your day with your friend and wish her/him all the best from me.
Have to dash, as always it has been very nice to speak to you.
Take care and don’t forget … ENJOY!!!

hello,Clip
Thank you, thank you for your gift,it is special for me,and very warmful in winter^^
What I can give you is just my best wishs far from your country, from China.we live in different country, eat different food, see different people, but we met here, this is the same thing we have^^
You are right,I am working in a restaurant,in Japan, they call this kind of restaurant yizagaya,‹Žð‰®,which means living in the room of sake,(hahaha, this is the explaination I give it from the literal meaning of it,before today,I never thought about the meaning of it,but now,I donot know how to explain it to you, maybe I should ask some of Japanese in the restaurant I am working). I like woring there, there are a lot of Japanese part time workers, and of course besides me,there are 3 other Chinese,I have been woking there are for about 10 monthes. It is very near from my home, about 8 minutes by walking.Because most of these part time workers are young people,so we talk a lot, communicate a lot,and they are very patient to teach me about Japanese questiones.
I like photography too.But my camera is very common just for ordinary photo taking.I met a boy who's from Sweden when I was at Japanese language school,wo~~~his camera is very professional (I am jealous of him, hahaha,,,,)and his photoes are really beautiful.I think you should be very good at taking photoes, right?
About your car accident,I am sorry to hear that,is everything gonna be ok now? What about your wife, has she completely recovered yet now?As long as with your love,I am sure everything will be ok^^In mind, you are a such harmonious and happy family.Love will bless you.^^
I will try to cook something by myself in the future^^haha,,,,In China ,there is a very interesting saying is if you want to in control of a man, you'd better first to control his stomach, haha,,,
Well,I gonna to sleep now,and say zaijian to you,and see you!!
Have a nice day^^

Ni hao Angela,
Just a quick reply for now.
In my country we have a saying, " ... the way to a man's heart, is through his stomach ... "
It goes to show, we are the same the world over!
Hope you enjoyed your Suday with your best friend.
It is 0130 hours (Monday) in the UK and I am at home, so it is time for bed
Sleep well and sweet dreams.
Goodnight Angela,

I just arrived at home.Thank you for telling me the saying in you country,it seems there are some common things in different countryies.^^
Yes,I met her(she is a lovely girl),and we went to Church together, she belives in Jesus, and she goes to Church every Sunday.I donot believe Jesus, but I have been to Church with (actually followed) her twice.I donot have any special religious belief.in China,Buddhism is the most popular,What about in England? And do you have some beliefs?^^
Have a nice day! see you!!
(I am very glad we can still keep in touch with each other,im my life,I have lost some friends because lack of contact .of course,we have lost and will lost in our life)

Ni hao Angela ,
Your best wishes are a great gift, warmly received, thank you.
“…yizagaya,‹Žð‰®,which means living in the room of sake…” I do not really understand this, maybe it means the same as “Public House” in England, a place to eat and drink.
I have taken photographs for many years, the last camera I had was a Canon A1, with all the accessories. But it became very heavy to carry, so now I have two of the new digital cameras, a Fuji and a new Vivitar which my wife and daughter bought me for Christmas. They are much better than the old film cameras.
My wife will take a long time to recover from the accident, but time is a good healer, and we are all together and I cannot ask for more.
All countries have so much in common, we have to travel to discover this. Unfortunately travelling costs a great deal of money. This is what the electronic age has given us, the ability to meet and talk with people from all over the world; to meet, to talk and to be friends. This way we can all have a better understanding of each other, bringing us closer together in a world that is so threatened by wars, nature and global warming.
I did not realize that Buddhism was so popular in China. I thought Chinese people were atheists, I mean nothing by this, it is what we are led to believe!
The main religion in my country is Christianity. I am a Christian and a follower of the ‘Church of England’, such a person is known as a Protestant. Yes I do believe in the Lord God Almighty.
I too am pleased we can keep in touch; I enjoy talking with you Angela.
It is 0045 hours Wednesday 17th January. I must go to bed I have to be up early to take our daughter to school.
Take care and don’t forget …ENJOY …!

Hello,Clip
Good evening!
How are you today?
I feel a bit of tired, cause the yizakaya I am working was busy today!
yizakaya is a palce for drinking and eatting in Japan, some traditional Japanese cuisine are supplied there.I am sorry that I cannot explain it exactly in English.^^It means I still have to improve my English^^
I am here first just wanted to do something with English, but now I realized that there are much more things deserved to do.And I am really happy that to chat with you,and the Japanese lady I told you before, and more friends on the way.hahaha...
You are lucky, you are all together ! Life is also a kind of challenge. God will bless your family!!!
My father ran into a car accident about 10 years ago,he hurt his leg badly and it took him a long long time to recover from it.But he is still htere, just as what you said,I cannot ask for more.
Buddhism is popular in China, but communists(the leading Party in China is Communist,do you know it?) are not allowed to have religious beliefs.I donot know what China impressses in other countries.I met a lot of foreigners here, all of them told me that they got to know there is no freedom of speech in China. It is difficult to say, because maybe there are something I donot know. But I sure say life in China is peaceful, quiet, safe as a whole. No wars in my country and the leaders donot like to use war to deal with disputes.I hate war,too many innocent people became the sacrifice of war.War against Iraq, and war between Israel and Lebanon....wo~~~~~I'd better stop talking about war!
So how about you today? What about your job?Interested or busy?
And your lovely daughter,is she higher than yesterday? And your wife, sincerely hope she will completely recover soon...
May I ask your a question that you must love your wife very much, right?
Well i gonna go to sleep and say zaijian to you
Byebye and see you.
Happy,healthy,safe,..

Ni hao Angela ,
Yizakaya, yes the same in England, a place to eat and drink! I am really pleased you are making more new friends you cannot have enough friends. The Japanese Lady you spoke to me about sounds very nice, she would be a good friend for you.
Thank you for your Blessings to my family it is very kind of you. I am so sorry to hear that your father was hurt in a car accident, I hope he has fully recovered, please pass on my blessings to him; as you say he was fortunate and is still with you, which is good.
I understand the meaning of Communism, but in my country we are a democracy; not that it is better just our way of living.
The war in Iraq is not popular in the UK, most people believe our government deceived us, they lied to us about the Weapons of Mass Destruction that President Hussein had. A lot of people think as I, that the death sentence of President Hussein was wrong; and to show it on the Internet was an utter disgrace … but as you said enough talk of war.
Since the beginning of the year we have had very bad storms; driving rain and gale force winds. These last few days have been particularly bad. Gales, gusting up to 160 kilometres an hour have driven across the UK, into France, Germany, Poland and as far the Czech Republic. Many thousands of people have had their homes destroyed, water and electricity cut off, and scores of deaths throughout Europe. It seems as though the winds will never cease; we’ve had three weeks of continual storm force winds. Strangely though, it is not cold for this time of year, most unusual.
I have been off work this week, my rest week, so I have spent much time with my family, which I enjoy very much. You ask me if I love my wife, YES, very much also our daughter, I am so proud of them both. Without them I am nothing, only half a man. I cannot envisage a world without them.
Enough about me! Tell me do you drive a car? Do you walk mostly in Tokyo or use the local transport? I understand that Tokyo is a very crowded city, not what you are used to, compared to your village. Tokyo must be a very vibrant city, full of energy. What is it like to live there? Are there many places of entertainment for you to enjoy? What do you enjoy doing the most? When I was younger I used to like to go dancing? Do you? When I lived in the city I never used my car for work, always used to cycle, quicker and much healthier. Do you cycle?
It is 0427 hours, I have been on the internet for hours, I am tired so I will wish you pleasant dreams and good night, and look forward to talking with you again.
Zaijian Angela and take care.

Hi,Clip
How are you?^^
I am sorry to hear that you past bad weather last few days!Is it Ok now?
Thank you for your blessing to my father,he still has stain pipe which was used to fix the bone of his leg.But he can walk smoothly now.^^
I cannot drive a car,I donot have a driving licence. But until now,I donot have enough to buy a car,so it is ok for me,hahaha,,,,,
I like walking. It is a kind of relaxing for me.At the beginning of arriving at Tokyo,I walked a lot,far from home on foot, walking, seeing and taking pictures. But of course,my general means of transport is electric train and subway.Transport in Tokyo is very developed. So it is very convenient to live in Tokyo.Yes,Tokyo is a very crowded city compared to my village, but I get used to it not for a long time, cause city is not so strange to me.
First few days,Tokyo gave me a quite different impression from China, the road is narrower than in China, and always have slope. And a lot of universities are in the rural area, and so on
Near my home, there are a lot of clubs and pubs,I neve been there,it is always the destination of foreigners,I mean people from abroad.
For me ,I like singing, but I am really very very poor at singing.Sometimes,I go for a drinking with my friends and then we always go to karaoke,KTV for singing.I like sports, before I came to Japan,I did a lot of hiking ,palying volleyball(my favourite),tenise(although poor at it) ,basketball and so on...but after I came to Japan,I found I lost everything of it,.Sometimes I am too busy to do sports, sometimes I am too lazy to do it, my life now is not so healthy I think, always go to bed too late, get up too late,no sports, too much beverage, coffee, meat, lack of vitamin ,vagetable...oh,my God,,,,I think I should change it to the ringht way...
Do you think my life is dangerous?haha,,,,I think .
It is 00:37 here in Tokyo.Say good night to you.
I will try to fall asleep ...
See you,byebye
Have a nice day

Ni hao Angela ,
Tuesday 23rd January @ 0148 hours.
Sorry I have not replied sooner but our PC at home has broken twice this last week , so I have had to wait until I can use my work’s terminal.
The weather over here is changing for the worse I’m sorry to say. It is now very, very cold with heavy snowfalls overnight and hard frost … brrr … I hate the snow and the cold. Our daughter loves the snow, she likes to make snowmen in the front garden, and throw snowballs at me when she is given the chance.
I’m pleased that your father can walk well, motor cars are not a good thing; but in my country the transport system is so unreliable we have to rely on our own vehicles. If I lived in a large city, such as Tokyo, I would not want a car, much better to use the public transport . Owning a car is not such a good thing, they are expensive, dirty and they clog up the streets and roads, they also kill people. There are many people slaughtered on our roads every year because of car accidents.
I agree with you walking is very relaxing and of course the exersize is good for you. Walking gives you the time to stop and enjoy your environment and take in all the nice sights and sounds, when driving you would miss these important details; when walking you experience the soul of the city and of the people, you keep in touch instead of just driving through. Yes, walking is much better. I say all this but do not walk as often as I should. Though I live in the countryside I never walk the country lanes, it is far too dangerous because of speeding motorists, and they drive like lunatics. We normally drive to a place where we park the car and walk the fields and footpaths where cars are not allowed, or cannot get there, this is much safer.
Now if you want to hear a truly dreadful singer then all you would have to do is listen to me ; people would pay me NOT to sing, I am that bad! Karaoke is very popular in the UK, personally I do not like it, there are too many people who sing like me .
When younger I used to do a lot of hiking and camping (we call it backpacking), I used to enjoy it tremendously. I also cycled a great deal, and used to carry all my camping equipment in panniers on the back of my pedal cycle. My friends and I used to go away for the weekend, and also for two or three weeks at a time during the summer for our vacation. I also played basketball at school, but it never became very popular in the UK.
With all your studying and holding down a part-time job I do not think you are lazy, far from it, you sound to be a very busy young lady . You must allow yourself some free time to enjoy yourself; we have a saying in the UK, “Too much work, and not enough play, makes Jack a dull boy”; meaning you’ve got to play some times to let off steam and not get bored.
Coffee like any thing taken in moderation does not hurt, but like you, I also drink far too much coffee! As long as you have a balanced diet I’m sure you will be fine, lots of fruit and vegetables that’s the thing, and not too much or .
My break is over and I have to start work again , so I will wish you goodnight, and sleep well.
Take care.

hi,Clip
Sorry for my delayed reply.I am a bit of busy recently.
I am sorry to hear that the weather was worse ,how is it now?My spanish friend told me that his city is suffered heavy snow now.It is really unconvenient for citizens.I hope your city got better.
Tokyo is warm this year,I havenot seen snow this winter .Last year,we had heavy sown in winter,it was cold, but beautiful. This year is warmer than last year. Not only in Tokyo ,but also in other cities in Japan.I donot know it is a good thing or bad thing. Is it means the world is getting warmer?
My big exam is coming soon,it is really very important for me,I told you before, right? But cause it,I am really worried about it recently. That makes me feel not so good. But anyway, what the result is ,I will be peaceful to accept it.
Recently I am also trying to have a balance diet, what about you?
You are still in your holiday ,right? After the exam,I will have a long Spring holiday,I am waiting for it .But I will become busy this Spring holiday.Because I have to move out and find new home, and at the same time ,find new works. It will be my first time to live alone.I never lived alone before.
I wish you have a wonderful holiday with your family.
See you,Best wishs
