Hi Jen
Well I hope you are enjoying your birthday! Did you play badminton today, hope you won!
PP certainly did you proud with I LUV 1976! I don't know how he does it. Friday's one was also excellent, did you spot the ref to Newcastle and Weston Super Mare? Can't remember the title but it was on JV.
Did you watch the football? I half heartedly watched but I don't usually get exited until the thing gets going a bit.
Not much news this end. Warm and sunny with(thankfully) a bit of breeze.
Hope you are celebrating tonight with and something nice to eat.
Speak soon

Hi Helen,
It's 23.13 so still officially my birthday.
Had a lovely day. The guys and gals at badminton were really sweet. I think they let me win every game I played. Must look out for PP's message on Friday. He is very clever and so funny. I think he must be a really lovely man. (Hey Neil, if you're reading this stop now !!)
Had a great day today. People are so kind aren't they. I had cards addressed to 'my special friend' and I didn't know I was one !
Meal tonight was all right. We went to the equivalent of a Harvesters. Me, husband, daughter and 2 grand children. I invited my son's ex, but she declined literally at the last minute saying she thought it was a bit awkward. For her and him not me. So that was a little sad as I don't harbour any hard feelings. I gave her a kiss in my kitchen and she said she knew I had invited her for her own sake, but, what can you say. All mixed feelings. But, we had a good time and the kids were great. Love them to bits.
Getting maudling as Catherina says, so must . Hubbbie has fallen asleep with all the excitement. Anyway, he has played golf for hours on end.
Love,
Jen

Hi Jen
Sounds like you had a really nice birthday. What a shame that your son's ex decided not to come, although it seems like you had a good night anyway.
I don't know why but I can hardly keep my eyes open tonight. I got involved in an awfully long thread on JV mainly because of what I thought was a rather silly comment by Teresa. I'm not sure that board is healthy anymore as I feel it's making me agressive! I do wish we were back in the days of all the goings on at Phlopp House and the allotment society! Speaking of which I had a look on JV's page and there is picture of the allotment man and I'd never imagined him to be at all like he is! Neil is so funny and he just lifts my spirits.
I must remember it's Catharina's birthday tomorrow, and I think it's Mike's as well this week.
As I drove past the gym today I noticed they had a special offer of 14 days for £15 so I may phone up and see what you get for it. I feel like doing something but I'm not very good with keeping things up.
Hubby's back must be okay if he is back to golf? Peter is driving to Windsor Thursday, I'm half tempted to go with him but he'll be leaving at the crack of dawn so on second thoughts might not! Apart from the football everything seems a bit flat up here.
Well I'm going to have glass of wine. I really missed Richard Allinson last week when Peter was away - can't stand the new guy at all.
No more news so will go and drown my sorrows!

Morning Helen,
Is it Catharina's birthday today, 16th June ? I can't see any messages posted on the CS board so am loathe to start one myself if it's not the right day !
I used to pay for annual membership for the gym, badminton, swimming, yoga etc. Because I had paid up front, I attended every session religiously.
Now the better weather is here, I tend to just pay as I go. I do think exercise can cheer you up even if it's just going for a walk.
I have never been to Windsor, just driven past on numerous occasions.
The JV board no longer seems to have the same spirit does it. There are a lot of spiteful and mean posters. I like a good debate as much as the next person, my husband would say more so (!), but there are some people saying the silliest things.
Hot here again today. Must go and do some work before it's too hot,
Jen

Hi Jen
Just noticed that I hadn't replied to your message, sorry!
It's absolutely freezing up here today and it's raining so at least the garden won't need watering just the tubs. I think of you when I water! Did you hear Terry on the allotment yesterday? I'd forgotten about the strawberries that are in hanging baskets on the floor(!) so dashed out to see if there was any fruit and to my amazement there will be bowlful in the next day or so if the birds don't get there first!
Talking of which, we have loads of young sparrows feeding in the garden at the moment. There must have been 10 the other day and they are supposed to be on the decline. We haven't had so many goldfinch this year.
I see DG got a personal message from JV. I suppose the subject was close to home as well.
Neil is on form as usual!
My Dad is back in the Nuffield for a few more days and is getting a bit fed up. I don't want him to come out too soon because he is a devil for trying to do things that he shouldn't!
Just having an easy weekend hopefully! I might attack the cupboard in the spare room! Do you watch the football? I'm not enthralled I have to say.
Have a nice weekend and speak soon!
Helen

Hi Helen,
Trying to catch up on my 'post'. Because we have had people staying, it's been difficult to get away on my own for half an hour. Although the weather has been a bit hit and miss, we have got out every day.
Today I have finally taken down my St George flag from the car. Despite England losing, I still flew it in the hope Tim might reach the finals. But after today's performance, I thought it was time to take it down.
I shall not watch tonight, but hope Holland win. (Pure spite !!)
See JV has posted a message to all. I think the boards are now less spiteful and there are some good conversations going. I cannot join in the intellectual ones unfortunately. Nice to see DG back and PP always on form. I shrieked when I read his message yesterday about the 1986 Ryder cup.
Dad sounds as though he's a bad patient !! I think men are the worst don't you.
Posted 2 naff jokes on the CS board. A friend of mine regularily sends them to me. Some are unprintable. But she is a bit of a wild one !
Speak soon

Hi Jen
Am just listening to Jason on Radio Jackie and he's just played that awful Elvis song that JV played for us on the Children in Need show! He sounds very much at home there.
Peter is watching the football downstairs so I'll hear if anyone scores. I couldn't believe Henman's performance after the previous 2 matches! We won't know what to do with ourselves after tonight with no football and no tennis! Oh to be as confident as Maria Sharapova!
Have tried to stay off the MBs this weekend but had a look at the CB. Should I know who Belgian Chocolate is? He seems to know a lot about us, but I suppose he could have been 'lurking' for ages!
We had some homegrown strawberries today. They at least had some flavour which is more than I can say for the ones I bought the other week. The lettuce are slow but we've very little sun.
Just spoke to my Dad and he is getting a bit bored. He seems to be progressing though which is the main thing.
It's nice to know that JV appreciates the message board, he's a nice lad!
Loved your jokes by the way, I'm hopeless at remembering them. PP has me in stitches most of the time as well.
Just off to refill the glass!
Take care
love
Helen

What has happened to PP's page ? I though he had gone completely, but it must be my pc playing up.
I thought BC might have been someone we know and like, or that certain someone we don't correspond with !
Where do I go to hear Jason please ? I am hopless and have found out nothing at all about his radio programme, and I would have liked to have heard him.
Your dad must be feeling better if he's bored. That's always a good sign. Glad the footie and tennis has been done and dusted. Did you see the mixed doubles final last night ? It was excellent. The Blacks, brother and sister, won.
Sun shining here, no rain, so making the most of it.

Hi Jen
Hope you didn't get blown away with the gales. It's been like winter up here today - I found a polo neck sweater in the bottom of my drawer and I still felt cold!
Have you seen the auction on JV's site for his tie and the post from PP underneath! Re BC do you mean my friend as the one we don't correspond with? Otherwise you've lost me. (That's not difficult at the moment!) I've got a cold and I think it affects the brain as well!
Did you manage to find Jason on Radio Jackie? I listened in for a while and he was good. It seems he is on again Sunday evening.
We are visiting our friends in Somerset in a couple of weeks time so I hope the weather is better than it is now. We don't seem to have much luck when we go so I'll let you know as you won't need to watch the weather forecast.
I see we have that obnoxious poster back again and he had the cheek to have ago at your grammar correction! There are some oddballs around at the moment.
Must dash as I've a few more emails to send.
Have a nice weekend if I don't speak to you.
Love
Helen

Hi Helen
I think that 'Psycho' is the same person posting as SM a few weeks ago.
Not sure about BC now, but he can spell so I am sure it's not the same person as Psycho/SM. But don't know if it's a friend or foe !! Where is Eric the Red and Lucinda these days ? See Theresa is still having a wind up.
I must admit I laughed out loud at having my grammar/spelling corrected. I was tongue in cheek when I sent the message, and that person going on about gay presenters !! There are quite a few people taking the proverbial on JV board and genuine messages from honest posters are being modded. Bring back Dalek !
I have R Jackie in my 'favourites' and listened last night about 9.00, but, it wasn't Jason !
I have looked at the photos of all the presenters but cannot see him. What am I doing wrong !!!!!!!!!!
Got the fire on here in sunny Somerset. The forecast is good for the week end, so you and Peter could just get lucky when you visit in a couple of weeks time.
Hope dad is still on the mend.
Take care, Helen, may manage to snatch a couple of sentences tomorrow on JV or Coffee Shop,
love
Jen

Hi Jen
I bet PP was glad that someone outbid him in the auction! I was surprised that we didn't hear from the guy who posted on the message board but it was more for Ebay than against I felt. A friend sold some some old postcards of aircraft for Peter on Ebay along with some of his own, I was amazed how much people were prepared to pay. Mike has a website so I think it's easier that way.
Not doing much tomorrow as Peter is going to an airshow and as he is leaving at some unearthly hour decided to stay at home. Not really feeling much like spending the day in the car with my cold.
I think Jason is on abut 8pm on Sunday if he is doing the ame show as last week.

Helen,
It got really interesting on the Coffee Shop board this evening. PP et al were having a right ding dong with someone called The Upsetter.
Wonder who that can be ? Anyway, just come home and found he's been really rude to me, so I will reply to him in the morning !
You have to laugh !
Hope your cold is better. Went to the hairdresser's the other day to make an appointment, and one of the young girls was absolutely streaming with a cold. I thought to myself that she should have stayed home instead of passing on her germs.
I am babysitting tomorrow night and maybe I'll take the kids to the farm in the day time. Weather forecast horrendous !

Hi Jen
Just had a look at the CB! I saw the first couple before I went out and missed the rest! Talk about awkward... By the way he's another one who has miss used 'whose', I thought it should have been 'who's' so you could have a go for that! I think he has also been on JV but can't remember which thread.
Just off out for a birthday card that I forgot yesterday.
Enjoy the grandchildren.
Helen
