Hi Flybynight. Are you the balding German bloke, or are you the well stacked blonde who used to be a body double for Marilyn Monroe? I have been over to the Bull in Ambridge, but couldn't see you there. Have you given up the drink at last?
If I am talking to Herr Flybynight........My apologies.

I look in here about once every six months, no wonder the chips are cold.

Lovely to see you.

How am I? At the moment I am frustrated !! I can't seem to get my Email set up properly....OK, I'm not much good with computers...I get confused with the instructions that are given, I wipe things off without meaning to, my kids are geting a little fed up with going over the basic things(silly thing is that when they retell me I think 'OH yer!....Got it'!!!...then can't remember a thing about it the next time I try) Mind you, I am OFFICIALLY a TOG as I retired last November...and am starting to gain my credentials...Replacement hip...digital hearing aid...have once or twice gone round to the newsagents in my slippers. Since my operation 9 weeks ago, I have to use a walking stick(which I hope I can ditch in a few weeks time) but before I do, I want to come across some children doing something wrong so that I can wave my stick in the air and shout 'CLEAR ORF YOU VARMINTS '!! at them (You can see that I was bought up on Enid Blyton)
BTW, I LOVE retirement. I feel that 50 years of work was just an apprentiship for now. I tell people that my week consists of 6 saturdays and a sunday...although without thinking of what I did yesterday, I couldn't tell you which day today is!!
I'm writing away at this not even knowing whether you will look at this page for a month...So I'll say Tarrah for now.Hope to hear from you.

FLYBYNIGHT

Hi Al,

How lovely, just like the old days, but I have to go all around the houses to find this! What a pallaver.

I don't know what you did, but whatever it was caused my pooter to pack up!
I'm very lucky though, as a few months ago a man moved into the bung next door and he works for BT and knows all about computers. So, I called him in and he's fixed it all. Phew!!! I thought it would be just my luck to go offline, now you've come back on again.

I had been wondering about your hip. John (TCL) has two new hips now and is giving dancing lessons again! He came for my birthday in June and shortly afterwards informed me that he wanted to do "other things" and not have his life revolve around me all the time. So, we're still in touch, but only just.

Am looking forward to getting your emails, as I am aware that everybody can read this.

I need a hearing aid too really, (was glad you're shouting) but I've noticed that a lot of people have to take them out when it's noisy, so perhaps an ear trumpet would be better. Or else standing close enough maybe.

I'm glad you're enjoying retirement. My husband did too, he thought it was one long holiday. But some men can't adjust.
Is Sue still working?

I've got to phone a friend now to see if a mutual friend is still in hospital. (Long story!)

Can't someone help you with your email? If the kids get fed up why not ask an expert? It can't be that difficult I would have thought? (Says she!) I would go mad without my emails!

Hope to see you later.

Hi Fly, I can see that you are on here somewhere....but where?
Anyroadup, I have been having all kinds of problems with my email setup. I've got an address, but friends have tried to email me and their posts have been returned undelivered. Yesterday I spent one and a half hours talking to an engineer with a very faint voice (well he was in India)He seemed to have put me right...trouble is I have no confidence with it all at the moment. Remember when our emails sometimes used to get caught in those tall trees in Oxfordshire when it was very windy. One thing I came to realise(although I supected it) this little man had all my details, passwords and everything in front of him. I wonder if personalities and politicians details are as freely available.........Must remember to watch what I say in emails in future.
So you've got a little man from BT next door that does have you? What kind of services do BT supply nowadays?Does he press the right buttons? LOL.
Well gorra go now for my exercises and walk. One day I will email you I hope.

Fondest wotsits

Hi Al,

Thanks for the wotsits, hereby returned.

I've never had any success with so-called "helplines" and they're far too expensive.
Anyway, I never know what they're talking about.
I think you have to come across good help by accident, word of mouth etc.
I was having a moan to passing friends one day and they told me of a young boy from their church who had just qualified in computer technology, so they gave me his tel. no. You may remember him. He now knows my computer better than I do and swiftly sees any problems. Trouble is, he's now too successful and charges £80 an hour. So I was lucky to get a new neighbour, wasn't I?
Trouble is, with friends and neighbours you can't keep asking for help when you don't pay them.
Are you still with Yahoo or with Outlook Express?
It's a bummer, isn't it?
I would feel completely lost without my emails.
As you say, too many people hold our details. Although I've been assured many times that there's no danger in emails.
But message boards are another question, although I think the BBC ones are safe enough. But I have never found anywhere to settle there since the Coffee Bar went. As I said, I have a look now and again, but that's all.
I wish I could help, it would be lovely to email again. I often think about you when Emmerdale is on and wonder if you're as bored with it as I am!
Al, have you tried sending an email to yourself? That's what I do when I wonder if all is O.K. If THAT works, everything else would as well.
It's probably just a little thing to do with your settings.

Hope you've had a good walk. Exercise that hip!! Says she, lolling about in front of the telly with smiley - tea andsmiley - cake.
Fancy a bit?
I miss our cookery chats as well.
Do you have a new pooter or is it still the old one?

Hope to see you in my Inbox soon. oooh-errr missus.

Love

I'll try and put it on here in a roundabout way.
Listen carefully, then I'll begin....

Catharina and then a dot, then willsher and then a @ and then BT and then Internet and then another dot and then com.

Oh dear, isn't life complicated.

Tell me if you've understood and whether you had the right address??
Looking forward to hearing from you, loads to tell!
