I tried to help
moved to new address Posted Mar 14, 2004
Was trying to make the h2g2 experience better for my 'friends'. I am too much of a mother earth (given the game away now).
Some welcome and appreciate my help, some take my help, some ignore my help, and some kick me. Guess I knew the novelty would wear off.

What one sees on here isn't the same as one receives in their e-mail.
Was only trying to help. Have been told to chill.
Is it true? Are you paid by the Beeb to help eejits like me?

If I read that last post right… if not please let me know..
I am sorry to hear one or more of your friends think that I am in the employ of the BBC.
In answer to that wild guess…. Nop I can not take the credit for being a BBC staff member
If you look at the ONLINE list you will see from time to time a Name in Italics, these are the BBC staff
And if you look at their pages you will see an Official Staff Badge see Jim Lynn

The other users with just a number are moderators but not all of them.

That's what I thought. I figured you were a bit like me (only more clever and experienced). You have been very kind trying to help. Hope you are not told to chill (thanks but no thanks), too.
You have been a huge help to me and I am very grateful. Wish I knew how to get a bckground colour, borders etc. We'll get there.

Hi-ya Mustard Seed
You posted << Hope you are not told to chill (thanks but no thanks), too. >>
I assume someone has told you to stop with the help. Please correct me if I am wrong.
My I ask.
Was it a member of H2H2 Official Staff or a member of the Ace’s team or a Guardian Angles?
Was it BBC staff?

No, none of the above.
Have been showing/talking to my husband.
Still not sure where the negativity was coming from. Everyone else has been kind. You tried to help me put a Guestbook on my page. In turn others saw your post to me, copied same and then (oops) their messages went to me. Meantime, Corrie thinking she was being kind, sent your message to others so they could have a Guestbook but the number bit sent them to my Guestbook. (oops again!) I know it's my fault - running before I can walk. Just that I want the nice people from where we came to have a good experience on here.
Will be better tomorrow. Feel sorry for those that are paid by the Beeb to help newbies. Will NOT volunteer myself to help, ever again.

I'm sorry - I was being totally pathetic and immature. Nearly 40 and still a big kid.

Hi-ya Mustard Seed.
To be honest Mustard Seed I don’t agree with you
If a friend pulls you down, I think you have every right to feel something.
<> 
That’s like falling off a bike and not getting back on.
I think you would make an ACE one day.

I'm going to be terribly rude and join a private conversation.
First of all, welcome! Are you exiles from the Radio 2 boards? You have found a nice place I can assure you. I'm sorry if you feel that people have been rude to you. There are a few people like that but not so many. You've been unlucky. I haven't been to look at what the problem is, but I will if you like. Just ask.
BBC staff have their name in italic letters on the online list but everyone else is a community member. There are no moderators! Or, actually we are *all* moderators. If you see something you don't like and breaks the House Rules, then you can report it.
The Aces, Angels, Gurus etc are volunteer groups who will help, but anyone can give you advice it you need it. One way to find out who has been here a long time is to order the online list by ID. The nearer the top of the list a name is, the longer they have been here. For example, I'm currently 5th on a list of 76. I've been on h2g2 for more than 4 years but I have never volunteered to be an Ace. I prefer not to. But if you need any help, just ask!

HI-ya coelacanth.
Thanks for dropping by my space,
I think it allover now, someone apparently thought I was paid by the BBC to help out newbie’s
and said as much in a privet e-mail to another newbie.
How ever it seems to have drifted in to the background now, but still, thanks for the offer of help.
After the digibox wars, I was begining to wonder where everyone has gone.
Feel free to call in any time coelacanth.
