I lost my cat too
CYBERHUMAN Started conversation Sep 8, 2005
Hi! I like your page, particularly your comment of "So much to say, so little time"! That's very true!
I lost my little black cat called Henry about five years ago. We got him in February 1997 when he was only a couple of months old and he was really intelligent and cunning. He could open doors, windows and even his own catflap all by himself, and when we got another cat in about 2001 called Eddie he could even open the catflap to let Eddie in too! *smiles at the happy memory*
Where was I? Oh yeah, in about 2000 Henry went out late one night and didn't return the next morning. I was really worried as he'd never done that before, and so I spent the next three or four days searching for him all around the neighbourhood. I even posted leaflets through people's letterboxes asking if they could keep an eye out for him. Anyway, on about the fourth or fifth day after he'd gone missing, Henry just turned up on my doorstep, being very pleased to see me and very hungry. I never found out where he'd been, but I think he might have been shut in a neighbour's garage or shed. Anyway, there was no long-term damage, or short-term damage (unless you count his hunger!), and he lived quite happily thereafter.
Unfortunately, Henry was running home one night in June 2003 when there was a thunderstorm and he got hit and killed outright by a van than was speeding by. But he lived a happy and contented life. He was only 6 when he died.
I really hope you find your cat very soon! I can kind of imagine what you're going through.

Thanks CH...
She hasn't come home yet...
Thing is, all my cat's seem to live REALLY long lives, so I can't help but be so attached to them. She's turning 10.
And this cat of mine sleeps next to me...no, wait...sleep practically on top of me at night, so it's kinda weird not having her cuddling up to me...

I grew up around cats so naturally I prefer them to dogs, and I think that cats are extremely intelligent, thinking, feeling, sensitive and wholly independent animals. I'm not saying that dogs aren't intelligent or without thoughts or feelings, but I just think that of the two, cats show more human-like qualities than dogs do, and what's so amazing about them is that they love you regardless of what you look like. They seem to be able to see the person inside and like that rather than the looks of their owner, which is nice. It's also great fun to play with them, like if you have a toy mouse on the end of some string and you spin it round so the cat gets dizzy trying to catch it!
Your cat is doing extremely well to get to the age of 10. My cat Henry's life was cut tragically short, and it was while I was recovering from an operation as well, so that wasn't a very nice experience. He would've been 8 this December. I still miss him.
Anyway, I now have two beautiful tabby cats which I bought off a neighbour in October 2003, when they were only a couple of months old. They're sisters and are called Willow and Anya (named after two characters from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), and they're now 2 years old and very naughty! Willow is rather like Henry, being very intelligent and crafty, but she hasn't managed to open a window yet!

Thanks for the support CH!
She came home this morning. I was leaving for work, opened the front door, and she ran in and to her foodbowl as though she had never been gone...
Cat's are strange like that.
I don't like it though. I'm gonna give her a good talking to when I get home.

Oh that's great! I'm so glad that your cat came back! I knew it would turn up sooner rather than later, and I was right! Oh that's marvellous, I'm very happy for you. Don't give her too severe a talking to though, after all she might have been shut in somewhere and she may have been frightened and in need of some TLC.
