Hi Jim,
Why does the top part of the GOO refresh all the time? I don't see it change, so refreshing it seems rather pointless. Also, I have found that the nature of H2G2 is such that it doesn't work well with a proxy-server, so the refreshing goo does also constantly add to the user's download. On slow days, the goo even refreshes three times before a page is completely loaded, thereby slowing things down even more.

Sorry - since people spend a lot of time looking at the forums, the goo refreshes to display a new banner ad once in a while. Whether you see a change depends on how many ad campaigns we're running at any one time. Sorry it's a pain, but we've got to pay our wages somehow.
