Hi Jim,
You may know that I've been around for quite a while. 45662 created 21 June 1999 is my orignal number but I have moved about a bit since then and can't seem to log on.
I can give you the email address that goes with the account if that's of any use to anyone but I no longer use that email account and would like to transfer myself back to the earlier H2G2 account.

Jim will probably be able to confirm or deny this himself when he turns up again but I think you've lost that account if you haven't updated it over the various login changes to the site since then. Apparently a decision was made that if people hadn't used really old accounts in the meantime then it wasn't worth the effort of converting them to the latest system.

The original account has got an old BBC account associated with it, but it hasn't been reactivated since SSO. If you can remember the loginname and password you should be able to migrate it over to SSO. If it helps, the loginname starts with a 'j'.

Aaargh! This is so tantalising. Having a username beginning with J is totally unexpected. The associated email address was at vossnet. Does that show up on your records? I no longer have that account so sending info to it would be a waste of time. Is there any other way I can prove my identity to get back the original stuff?

Best thing to do is email h2g2 dot support at bbc dot co dot uk and they can deal with it. They'll be able to let you have all the details.
