How're things?
I've just been trying to update my home page. Having done it twice and got the same response both times, I thought I'd better come and ask you.
Each time I have hit the "update page" button, IE has come back with a message that the connection to the server was reset, and nothing further happens. I have tried hitting the update button again, only to be told to "please be patient". Not blessed with large amounts of patience, I have given it a minute or so both times and then exited from IE all together.
Is this a problem with us, or with h2g2...?

You could try opening a new browser window and seeing if your userpage has actually been updated.
Is this happening all the time for you?

Only at work. I've had two mornings and about three different startups of the computer to see any changes which might have been made, but nothing seems to have happened.
Unfortunately work is where the saved version of the changes I want to make still is, so I'll have to try a few more minor changes here and see if I can get something to happen. I'll get back to you when I have seen what the effect is from home.
Anyway - you recovering OK?

I'm out of the wrist supports and the sling now. I had more X-Rays on Monday, and the Doctor said I hadn't broken anything in my wrists, and seemed happy with the progress with my elbow.
Since ditching the sling and supports, I've felt generally much more comfortable. My wrists still hurt if I twist them too much, and I can't carry heavy things too much. My elbow doesn't give me much trouble unless I twist it too much, but I can now straighten it fully, and carry things with it.
So I'm well on the way to a full recovery.

It worked from home, although all I actually did was change the title. The rest of the changes will have to wait until I remember to take a disk in to work to record what I've done and want to do. I'll probably want to spend a little time working on it over the holiday.
It is still a bit odd, though...
PS nice work on the smileys, by the way...!

Hey Jim!
A merry Christmas to you, Bernadette and Charlotte. I notice you're still here though - surely that Y2K thing doesn't affect computers fully 6 days ahead of schedule...?
Enjoy the day - and as for civilisation collapsing around you on new year's eve, try to ignore it: I'm very much afraid I'm going to be well past caring by about 11.30pm...

Hey Jim!
How did the Y2K thing pan out, from a personal perspective? Is it yet to pan out?
A slightly more distinct technical problem has cropped up, with the survey page. It will not, eveidently, accept my phone number, even formatted exactly as specified. I'm not sure what I - or you, for that matter - can do about this, but I'd be interested to hear any suggestions...!
Regards, and happy new year!
H.
