Hi Jim,
Tell me did you people start up a new advertising-campaign ?
The place is swarming with new researchers today...

We did a press thing yesterday. It was supposed to be embargoed until Sunday but one of the press services put it up yesterday, and several newspapers have carried the story. Hence the newcomers.

Thought it was something like that, well you can never have enough researchers...or can you ?
Good to know we're in the news though...

Check out The Guardian, The Telegraph and The Independent if you want to see the publicity.
I've got to get back to the TDV Christmas party now - it's in full swing...

It must be a performance-issue Marv, now it works and now it doesn't. Lots of new researchers again today...

Jim Lynn Posted Dec 19, 1999
It's not a performance issue, it's a stupidity issue - mine, as it happens.
We have multiple web servers, each of which must be kept up to date with new changes. There was one file which was missing on one of our servers which is the script that takes you to your user page. If you happened to be talking to that server when you tried to go to your user page from a guide entry, you'd get the not found error.
Entirely my fault, but fixed now.
On a slightly technical note.
The Cow Posted Dec 19, 1999
I keep getting the problem over the last few weeks. I think my browser just gets confused: pressing back and reclicking works ok.
On a slightly technical note.
marvthegrate LtG KEA Posted Dec 19, 1999
Just a thought, might you be able to have an email address or a forum specifically for fault reporting. Possibly with a FAQ for technical issues that might pop up. I was just thinking that this might be a little better than posting to someones home page. It seems like an invasion of space to me. As I said this is just a thought, Marv.
