I just thought I'd pop by after reading your comments in the "Law of Pedantic Reverberation" forum.
You, me and Eric the Fruitbat seem to be in a minority in thinking that it's important to communicate clearly.
Do you think the "can't be bothered" types are predominantly American? After all the ability to think is limited by the ability to express ideas, and the CBB's don't seem to have any justification for their position - a very american trait.
Did you see the comments in another forum about capitalism (in Ohio) being better than communism because the writer's kids could buy any kind of chocolate they wanted? Pretty good for a state that doesn't embrace the teachings of Darwin (capitalism is Darwinian by nature) and a country that, by it's own admission, is home to several million malnourished kids.
Can we start a campaign for clarity of thought?
Oh, and take a peek at http://www.h2g2.com/A181801 if you get 5 minutes.

I don't know if those who can't be bothered are predominantly American - since the net is dominated by Americans anyway, any group you care to define would probably be predominantly American.
What I dislike above all else is stupidity. Ignorance I can forgive, because we're not all lucky enough to be well educated. But stupidity is independent of learning. It's ingrained.
BTW, capitalism isn't strictly darwinian, since there are no genes and there's no inheritance, and the forces that shape economic systems aren't natural (they're often directed). I take your general point but I'd be wary of using that argument because it's based on the kind of loose interpretation of Darwin that lets creationists claim it can't work because it's random. Sorry to be pedantic but I'm reading another of Richard Dawkins' books at the moment, so I more sensitive at the moment.
