Ah you appear to have returned the book, thank you, hope you enjoyed it.
In 2002 I had a knee replacement in the right knee. This required having to learn how to walk again. First zimmer frame, then crutches, then sticks, then one stick. I was off work 8 weeks. In November 2004 a piece came out and on December 30th I re-entered hospital to have it repaired. This required again 8 weeks off and starting back on the zimmer frame again. June 2005 I entered hospital for the left knee. This became swollen and full of fluid, so I had to return to hospital to have it drained. Again I was off 8 weeks and back on the zimmer frame.
Hope that that hasn't put you off, what have you had done?

I'm in the UK. London

I work for the BBC World Service. I am a sound engineer.
We have crossed threads before and chatted. I'm sure we have. May I put you on friends list?

You certainly may, can i do likewise?smiley - smiley

Eeek, that sounds like a whole bundle of fun, maybe you should have a look at the "Kneegeeks" site:

http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEtalk/index.php

I have lurked there & registered, but not posted anything. In comparison to your probs, mine is very minor. I had a large fissure in the menisce, which they have sort of scraped away & sucked the floating crap out. Both cruciate ligaments are torn (they look like bits of pink seaweed, fascinating!)Anyway, even less than a week after surgery, i can tell there's improvement, it was locked in a "not straight/not bent" position for the last 4 months, now i can manage (carefully!) to flex it & straighten it; just pray to gawd i don't fall over again!

Is yours OK now?

It was all a bit (!) scary 'cos i have an underlying degenerative nerve condition affecting the legs & there were concerns about having epidural, on rare occasions in cases like this it can lead to paralysis, but a general anaesthetic was ruled out 'cos of other health stuff.

Sound engineer for the Beeb eh? So you are almost an italic! Do you get to rub shoulders with famous rock star types or are you the "backroom boy"; the unsung hero as it were.

I'm borrowing "Arts" next if that's OK, being a bit of an arty-farty type meself like!smiley - winkeye

smiley - cheers

Good heavens! Italics! Me!!!
Nope not that a high grade. A mere nobody, pressing buttons in the background.

Nope don't get to meet the people, famous or unfamous. I transmit the stuff after it's been recorded so just get the basic material.

The left knee still causes problems. It seems that there was considerable tissue damage done, and in one place it is numb with no feeling at all. I cannot kneel. The vicar's furious as I stand all the way through or sit.smiley - rofl If I entered church there'd be a big crash of thunder and a bolt of lightening. I go when Colleen drags me along. She goes regulary, especially Christmas and Easter. Stairs are a challenge and slopes can be difficult. Levels are OK.

Arts book, by all means. I studied for a Bachelor of Arts degree. Which parts, or discilpines, are you interested in?

Exucse lousy typing.
I have a steam operated keyboard. There's this little lad in the desk drawer peddling furiously to keep the pressure up. Every so often he nods off and I have to open the drawer and soundly thrash him to get things going again. It is most inconsiderate, as I have to keep wiping the blood of the keyboard.
