...that it would be much easier to communicate with words, rather than smilies.
How are you? Where are you?
Damn, it's freezing in here.
OK, maybe just the one smiley.

I ahte the cold, don't you? I prefer the sun, can't wait for summer. How much longer before the little appears?

It shall miraculously appear some time between the end of February and the beginning of March. If it's down to me- end of Feb. is great!
I hate being cold too, though being pregnant does get you warmer. I'm from Israel, so I'm used to heat. And some more heat. Winter for me used to mean 15 degrees C, so you can imagine I'm quite overwhelmed by the English winter. Though I gather that the North West isn't as cold as other places...

I have friends who live on a Island just off the coast of England in a place called Kent. They were stuck for a couple of days, but have been able to get out recently.

London
The heart of the city, as it were.

Yael Smith Posted Dec 30, 2005
It's got one?
Not a fan of London, myself. I'm in Liverpool. Not a fan of it, either. My husband is one of the natives...
Have you lived in London all your life?
And I have heard of Kent, but then I have travelled much in the 2-and-a-bit years I've lived here.

Nope only work in London. Live outside, in the sticks, as it were. Only ever driven through Liverpool, never stopped. Seen in on TV often enough. Was born in London, a Cockney. Yes I can speak the slang.Dr Johnson wrote "When a man is tired of London, he is tired of living." I can't help but feel that Shelly was closer when he wrote; "Hell is a city much like London" Opps sorry a smiley. Yourself? What of Liverpool?

Liverpool is grey- sky, building, river, streets, people, the dope they smoke- all grey and dull.
The city centre is OK and you can find some nice restaurants, but... grey. Really.
No city better than Jerusalem that I've seen so far. Lived there after I've married for a year and a half and miss it a lot. In what other city in the world can you find pommigranite trees on the front porch of a house you're trying to rent?
Was born in Jerusalem and raised in a tiny Kibbutz in the Jordan Valley. Then moved with mum and brothers to the coast, to another kibbutz very close to Caesarea. From there to Jerusalem and then to sunny ole England in 4 moves.

Hellooo Elly and LW
I just thought I might join you both as our paths often cross on lots of other threads. It is a bit odd to put a whole sentence and not keep counting the words and trying to find ones that scan and rhyme!
I lurk all over the place which was how I got to see your wedding photos Elly and I put myself on the google map too (although I'm not sure how to link it from my ps.
Popping in and out today as my girls (nearly 6 and 8) are home and wanting to be creative (read smear glue and glitter all over the table..oops I can't resist the odd )
well that enough talking for now!
catch you later

You've done a bit of shifting around then. I have been on hoilday to Israel. And enjoyed it. I found Jerusalem very interesting. It has a fascinating history. I have also visited Eygpt.
I believe Liverpool can be very much as you describe. Everytime I go north of London it rains. We went to visit friends in Chester and it rained all the way there, all the time we were there and all the back, only stopping when we got near London on our return.
I recall in Cyprus finding orange trees in the rear gardens. A few years ago in Florida there were orange trees in the garden and we used to pick one with breakfast every morning.
Obviously, being English, I like our changing seasons, finding them varied and never dull, therefore.

Hi Vicky!
Yes, we do seem to end up in the same threads a lot.
My little boy was forced to be creative (he's only 20 months old) by making a birthday card for his daddy and came up with very colourful results, I think. He's a true minimalist- two crayon lines and he's done drawing, usually.
Any kids on your end, LW?

My situation is complicated. No, no children although my girlfriend has six grandchildren. Long compicated story. Three girls from one son, ages 10,13 & 16. A boy and girl from daughter ages 14 for girl and 12 for boy. Her second son who lives in Florida has a little girl aged 3, who has taken to me and always insists on talking to me when we exchange phone calls, and follows me everywhere when we visit.
Hi Vicky, and welcome to this chat. All are welcome, and you're right, it is easier when you are not restricted by number of words, or making them rhyme.

Wow, skipping the whole kids bit and still ending up with (step) grandchildren sounds very nice! Not that I'll ever give back my kids, but it can be tempting at times.
Cyprus is nice, and I do miss the orange orchards (and banana groves, and Avocado plantation, etc.) we had in the kibbutz. Just walking among the trees on a saturday afternoon after it rained, smelling the wet soil and the fruit on the trees is a wonderful experience. Or picking mushrooms from between the trees to add to lunch...
Can get the girl out of the country, but not the country out of the girl, I suppose.

Somebody once described me as a hopeless romantic when I spoke of things like that, but I prefer to call myself a hopeful romantic, it sounmds better don't you think?
Gotta run going to lunch, back in an hour.

So are you Grandad or Gramp Lw? Some people have a way with kids and kids just know who's the most fun! My uncle is like that, kids flock round him, my Dad on the other hand would probably offer to shake hands with a two year old, he doesn't do 'chaos'
20 months Elly? hard work at that age! My two are three days short of two years apart which for the first few years was hard but now is much easier as (most of the time) they are the best of friends. I child mind a little boy who is 20 months (birthday in April) and he's great. The girls dote on him (and so do I, but it's nice when he goes home ). You put your feet up when you can. I hope your other half is the hands on type, makes life a lot easier!
(see if I don't use I resort to too many !!!)

Do men actually DO hands on? Other than on female body parts, that is, which he's always inclined to do, I just won't let him!
He does what I tell him to, so there's peace in the home most of the time. I still laugh when I think back to the early days after the wedding, thinking- no, we'll never fight or argue, we love eachother so much. Then it turns out he doesn't like washing dishes, and forgets to hang the laundry. And isn't very good at cleaning either. Domestication is a long uphill struggle.
As for my little boy, he's wonderful- beautiful as a cheeky cherub, with a mind of his own. He's now saying 'no' a lot, and looks very serious when he does. So he does have the occasional tantrum, but he's the sweetes thing ever. I'm totally infatuated with him. Want him to stay my little baby.
