What's up? I haven't heard from you in quite a while, so I just wanted to say hello. Everything is going fabulously here. I'm getting moved up at work, I'm going to culinary school next year (finally), and I might be getting a scholarship from work. Woo-hoo!
Btw, happy belated Valentine's Day!
Hey Valentine

Buttercup you're back, fantastic. And with a valentine greeting, my wish come true. Kick me for not properly sending you a lovely something. You know I would have sent roses and chocolate but I don't yet have the bandwidth.
In fact I haven't written because you didn't seem to be visiting h2g2. I pictured you out frolicking on the ice. Pretty picture. But now I hear you'll be inside playing violin with an orchestra, that's a real good woo-hoo and going back to school too, lucky you.
It happens I know a bit about orchestras, good luck with your chair. Personally I think the girls with the best legs should have the first seats but some conductors have other priorities. Have you ever played the Largo from Anton Dvorak's New World Symphony? Lately it's been my favorite classical string piece.
And back to school, funny that was my plan for sometime this year but I haven't done anything about it yet. I studied philosophy at Bates College in Maine for three years and University College Cardiff in Wales for a year, then left it all dangling dangerously unfinished.
Sh*t, now you got me thinking. I have things to do. Glad to hear you're fabulous still, good luck with everything. Get knives.

Forgive me for not being here much lately. I'll be on more often again now.
Have you ever seen Cartoon Planet? I just saw (well, heard) a commercial about a new show starring Brak. I'm quite excited. I love cartoons, and Brak cracks me up every time. (Quite obviously, it doesn't take much to amuse me.)
Did I tell you about my new watch? I was in a toy store, looking for a gift, and I found a Buttercup watch with sound and animation! It's really cool. When you push a button, she says, "The Powerpuff time is 5:53!" Or whatever time it is. I love it.
I noticed you were looking at the Schoolgirl Poems page. I don't know if you saw it yet, but I posted several poems there. You've already seen one of them.
If orchestras were set up the way you like them, I would be in the back. My legs are one feature of my body that I don't like. From the waist up, I'm fairly happy, but I hate my legs. I don't think I've played the Largo, but I do recall playing something from the New World Symphony. It was a few years ago, though. In orchestra, we're doing two pieces by Beethoven, a Saint-Sens, and something else, but I forget what. Speaking of orchestra, I'd better eat some dinner, because I have to leave for practice soon.

Thanks for the heads-up on your posted poems, just read them now and found them wonderfully sad in the nicest way. I love the combination of brevity and depth. I expect the guy from 'Memories' got hit hard in the head, doesn't make sense otherwise.
Don't watch cartoon planet, sorry, the only cartoon I watch is The Simpsons and occasionally when in a strange mood some of the stuff from Japan. My favorite shows are Buffy, Angel and Voyager but my favorite television is live pictures of the sun refracting in a fine spray off Austalia or New Zealand late at night in February. Tragically last nights yacht race was cancelled for lack of wind. They showed a replay of a prior race I had missed but not being live it's just boats on water. It's silly but any live shots outdoors fascinates me, even golf. As for regular shows even the ones I like I miss too many episodes the first time around to follow the plot then when they repeat they seem to show them in random order.
Oops, got to go.

Sorry it took me a while to respond. I've been mad busy lately. I'm really glad you enjoyed my poems. I'm just too sensitive to harsh criticism to show them to anyone I know. I've always been that way. As for the guy from 'Memories,' I later realized that he went for anything that moved and didn't have a penis. When he realized he wasn't going to get laid, he dropped me. (Sorry for my bluntness....I hope I don't sound bitter)
To be honest, outdoor shots have never really interested me much. I guess it's because I live in the mountains, so I see that sort of thing all the time. There's a lake about a 2 minute's walk from my house, and I see a mountaintop view every day when I leave the valley to go to work. It really is beautiful, but I've grown so used to it that I rarely notice anymore.
This may sound a bit odd, but have you ever been to Cleveland? I'm probably going there this summer, and one of my friends told me some terrible things about it. But he's a grouchy old man, and I wanted a second opinion.

Thinking of Buttercup this sunny morning.
With the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, new ballpark and improved Indians, Cleveland has to be better than ever I might guess, could only guess in fact not having been there. How is the water? I would wonder?
Hope all is well with you this almost spring. Pray the mud is not too deep, the birds sound really sweet, the morning sun reaches you, and your violin playing is well orchestrated. Has the lake thawed? I do wonder?

The sun is shining, the snow has melted, the lake is thawed, and the daffodils are beginning to bud. In my opinion, spring is here. Last week was absolutely beautiful, the weather warm enough to walk around the lake wearing short sleeves, skipping stones and playing with Lager. To my disappointment, it has gotten chilly again. But I don't think that will last much longer. The only downside to beautiful weather is the longer hours at work. All the rich people at the country club go golfing, then come inside to eat, keeping me in the kitchen cooking for them. The only place I can go to sit outside is also where the people I work with go to smoke. But I will still have one day a week for myself, to sit on the porch, listen to music, and read a good book.
Cats are so odd. My cat Henson is sleeping on her back on the couch, her belly in the air. If I go over and rub her belly, she will let me for a while, then grab my hand with her paws and lick my fingers. Then she'll get sick of that, sink her claws in, and bite me. Then she'll stop and lick me again. Honestly, I'll never understand her.

Good to hear you've enjoyed your spring walks, I cut through the Easton Town Forest yesterday, dry ground. The crocuses are doing well this year don't you think? and the daffs are budding aren't they?
By the by it is my birthday today, I'm 42 and hoping it's my lucky number. My mother telephoned from Florida and my sister just leaving for the cape called already to wish me the best. Going to drop in on my grandmother for lunch. So far all is well but hoping for better.
My cats at present are Amber and Hobbs(sic). I've mentioned them elsewhere I know. They are a big part of my life as I am both their doorman and headcook. Previous cats of mine were Sid, Darth and Thor. Good kitties all, Thor for sixteen fluffy fun filled years.

Well, happy birthday to you! I wish I had known, I would have gotten you a little something. Please, allow me to give you a big birthday kiss. *SMOOCH!*
The daffodils are now blooming, and the lilac bush has bulbs. That's one thing I love about where I live...I'm surrounded by so many beautiful, fragrant plants. It really wreaks havoc on my sinuses, though. I unfortunately have terrible allergies. For the past week, I have been having to sleep sitting up, because if I laid down, I coughed uncontrollably. Even sitting up, I was waking up countless times throughout the night. I finally went to see the doctor yesterday, and he gave me some medicine for it. Last night was the first time in a long time that I actually slept through the night.
With the nice weather coming, work will finally be picking up. It'll be so nice. I'll be working 6 days a week, and probably 10 hours a day, maybe a little less. It's a good thing I love my job.
dandelions?

Buttercup~
Let me know when, on your way to or from work, you notice a lot of dandelions, because you know I owe you a poem still. Hope all is well with you.. drive safe, there are extra kids, critters, sun, sand and like stuff in the streets this time of year. Take care.
