So, Steve - how's Texas? Have you always lived there? I make it 10:40 hrs at the moment. I guess it's warm and sunny.

Hoogle -
Like everywhere, Texas has pros and cons. Houston is on the Gulf (of Mexico) Coast, so its sort of subtropical in climate. Most people think of Texas as dry and desolate, which most of it is. West Texas is basically desert, but that's a long way off - El Paso is closer to Los Angeles than to Houston.
But its very humid here, and almost never freezes, which is fine with me, as I hate cold weather. Once there was a survey of travelling journalists about the US city with the worst weather - it was a tie between Houston (hot, muggy summers) and Buffalo, New York (frozen winters with snow up to the eaves).
So the weather is a pro for me, as is the lack of a state income tax. The cons include horrible traffic, crime, all the usual big city stuff. We actually live in a suburb of a suburb, so its a little safer than some areas closer in.
The Isle of Man sounds pretty exotic - are there a lot of sailboats? We have a small cruising sailboat, another good reason to avoid cold weather.
