I do have some sad news to express though. I have kept such meticulous track of every snippet of mail to arrive, I've checked for phone messages, ... I even checked our local newspapers. And yet,
I just don't seem to find my invitation to your Thanksgiving Day feast. And without knowing the timing, I find myself sitting here with one huge bowl of home-made bread stuffing (my own version) and a bowl of well chilled home-made cranberry sauce. And nowhere to take it.

So THAT's what those kids were playing with, down by the river. Ah well, maybe next year you can join US.
During my uniformed time, I probably worked more such occassions than not. Shift work was a pretty common curse of the trade.

Good Lady, I have unsubscribed from your latest journal as I really have no personal perspective to offer. I can only wish you a speedy investigation and treatment.

But you do know that I hope and wish the easiest of treatments and such for you. In the line of work that you have been for a time, you can easily find out what's the current methods. ... I don't have chocolates to offer, but would a tight- and a stiff measure of vodka (your mix of choice) substitute?

I'm not exactly sure what I was trying to convey, except that we do know some of what you might be worrying about. And that you have a much better likelihood of a simple and effective treatment than she met, times and circumstances being so much different.
Meamnwhile, have you begun your Christmas shopping yet? I know that I am easy to buy for, ... simple cash, in large quantities.
