I've seen the most delightful kitten and mother hiding underneath someone's house, last week.
There were some mean children gathered around them at the weekend too, teasing them nastily - I hate the kids around here..*grr* As a result I haven't got near the kitten as it's really suspicious of anyone new, and especially of G-force.
The mom is all softly fluffy and friendly, black and white with a single brown sock on her front leg. The kitten *Smudge* yes I already named it in my head, is a smoke gray colour and has a white splodge on his nose....
I want to bring them home......

Awwww.... with trying to catch kitty! It seems to be kitty season, i was in the copy shop yesterday with Cat (human one!) & we saw an ad for kitties, smokey gray tabby free to good home, nice photo. Cat phoned up for me & we are going to see them on Saturday. Yoda definitely needs a friend, i shall see what the personality of this one is like, she will need to be friendly BUT not timid 'cos i reckon Yoda will try & beat it up initially! I could be kept busy for a while!

I did have a nice answer, but after reading that I am just sick. The sooner I set up this msn and don't have to come here again the better.

ummm
I think Ed has a warped sense of humour and doesn't mean that in the sense it came across to you, Kaz. However I'm not going to make apologies for him ( at Ed) I can understand how even thinking that way can be upsetting for other peeps.
I would've like to hear what you said or rather read..., my msn isn't loading right now, it can't seem to cope with more than three things at a time... Look forward to seeing you there Kaz.
As for the puddy cats, Geo and I had a tiff last night about them - so I guess they won't be coming to stay after all. It really isn't a good idea here and now anyway, I know this - but still I miss animal friends, the kitten has such huge coppery eyes too....

(sorry!) Actually, I *do* like cats. A lot nicer than those other, slobbery house animals that need walking. And I'd certainly never *eat* an animal, if that helps.

I know this, the veggie recipes give it away somewhat as to *how* you really feel about animals in general, Ed
Furballs
zendevil Posted Oct 27, 2004
I am much the same as Ed, vegetarian for just about forever, love animals BUT am not in fact hugely sentimantal about them in general & certainly capable of making sick jokes about them!
I assume the slobbery type that need walking you refer to is a human male there Ed?

ps: as to the bath thing, yoda is fascinated by the bath & toddles precariously around the edges when i am taking a bath, i have warned her what will happen if she slips, but she just ignores me!
When i lived on a boat we had two cats who regularly fell overboard & learned very quickly to swim to the side, after a while it didn't seem to bother them very much. Plus i had a cat who used to sit on the end of the hosepipe if i was watering the garden, but he was possibly a bit perverted!

Aw it is hard to resist those little fur balls!
Some are born under our house every year.
They seem to be the neighborhood cats and always look healthy.
Our mouse problem has gone away since they live where the mice come in during the spring and fall
They come to say hello at the door every day ,but ask for nothing else.
When I was about 12 I brought home a kitten and a copy of "On The Road" by Jack Kerouac. My mother did not know which one to be more worried about. She took the kitten from me but left the book Mummbles something about how she'll never be able to keep me "on the farm" (expression) after reading it.

I miss the cats we left behind in our old neighbourhood. I'll have to borrow a new lot.
That's the good thing about cats. They're all a bunch of shameless tarts.

My friend with a cat named Jane uses the end line from the very old SNL news spots.
RIP Gilda Radner
She says ;
Hi Jane, you ignorant slut. Welcome home!

Phew! I thought I'd offended everybody!
Some friends of mine lived on their own Island just off North West Scotland. (Well - when I say 'friends' - she's still a friend, but he's not because he broke her ribs. And when I say they lived there - he, unfortunately, still does. She's been stupidly reluctant to take the b******d for every penny he has).
Anyway...apart from having one of the few dogs I genuinely like (largely Jack Russell. Enjoys going out on boats and barking at seals), they had a cat called 'Kennioch'. The island is only about 50m from the shore, and at low tide you can squelch across the seaweed/ Before they got a pontoon bridge, you had to pull yourself over in a boat attached to a pulley when it was wet (not fun against a prevailing gale. Oh - and by the way, this was after you'd draged all your shopping and firewood and coal down the side of a hill and along a precarious shore path).
The animals used to roam freely - you'd often come across them unexpectedly on the mainland. But sometimes Kennioch would misjudge the tide for a few days. Eventually hunger would get the better of him, and a bedraggled, hungry and ANGRY cat would appear at the kitchen window, having swum over.
It's a lovely wee island. I'd advertise their holiday cottage, only the native is a p***k.

Sounds like *he* wasn't a nice bloke at all, Ed.
The cat sounds a right character I enjoyed reading that bit
As for shameless tarts, yes they are.... I'd like to entice a couple under our house owing to lots of suspicious scratching noises in the sides of house
I was quite expecting a mouse to fall unceremoniously thro the ceiling and onto our bed after some particular frantic scrabbling and scratching this morning at about 5am this morning.

Well, Geo might change his mind about kitties coming to stay if something is scrabbling about in the roof.

zendevil Posted Oct 28, 2004
It might even be worth actually bringing in a few specially.....
Liked the sound of that Ed!! I bet he was angry, ooh dear yes! "call this a guest house? And this is what i have to do to get a plate of Whiskas?Bah!!!"

Oh, I love cats, hearing about those kitties you want to bring home, and that swimming cat have really made my day!
I haven't had a cat of my own in many years, but I used to have lots, in spite of being allergic. My boyfriend has a lovely cat, about three years old, with a congenital cerebral defect that makes it hard for him to maintain his balance or to control his hind legs. He stomps around the place, crashes into things, falls over a lot, and topples into his water bowl and/or litter tray quite frequently. But he's such a sweet (albeit neurotic and needy) little guy. I'm currently covered in claw marks from wrestling on the floor with the beast on Tuesday. But he sleeps so nicely on my belly, purring like a diesel engine, any time I crash over there. It's really cool to get some full-on loving from a furry little beast after a really cruddy day, isn't it?
