h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I am posting this here as I don't want to aggrivate the thread anymore than is necessary.

Who I am is someone who is looking at this from the outside and sees a large mess that will not be solved by threats, accusations and name calling.

What I have done is used the correct channels to notify the people who can help sort this problem.

I'm sorry if you don't appreciate the tone I used when posting to that thread but I'm sure you can appreciate that getting angry at each other isn't going to help the situation.

I doubt it, I am not a violent person and I am certainly not someone who has ever had thoughts of killing someone, I'm fairly upset that you think that I am. However as we are both on computers and know very little about each other I will forgive you that mistaken assumption.

Mel, Maths Wizard did not say that you you at all, but to member, who had taunted us beyond endurance. That's what Apparition means by 'nasty people'... they have been trying our patience (especially mine, but they are not above getting at my younger son - any target will do for them.)
We are feeling very fragile at the moment anyway, and Member especially, takes advantage of that.

If he posts things to your space that you don't like then yikes them and include a note to the moderators that he has been hassling you and you don't want it to continue. For more info on moderation read <./>DontPanic-Moderation</.>

As for whoever Maths Wizard intended that sentence for I found it unkind and nasty, I don't like to see things like that on h2g2. I meant what I said when I used the term 'Play Nicely', however much it is unappreciated. As far as I am concerned h2g2 is somewhere I come to play and I don't like seeing threats, allegations, trolling and flaming whoever it comes from. It isn't necessary and is only detrimental to the site's atmosphere.

Everyone has people they don't get on with, there are people on h2g2 who I don't enjoy being in conversations with who have tried to goad me into arguments. You just have to say no. Why would anyone want to spend time on a site getting into nasty arguments, I certainly don't, so I avoid the people who annoy me.

I think you are completely missing the point, especially since you admit to not having read the thread. I came in to say something when I realised that no-one was going to walk away and that eventually all of the participants would probably end up getting banned. I have taken no sides, I have only yikesed what I consider to be against the <./>HouseRules</.>. If you consider that to be a problem then please feel free to discuss it with me in a separate thread, you can start one on my home page if you like. I am here to answer a question that Maths Wizard asked me and that I felt would be detrimental to the other thread if I decided to answer it there.

Why? What *good* will it do you to read what they have to say? It will only make you angry and unless you like confrontation I can't see the point in that. Take my advice and leave people who annoy you well alone, steer clear of threads they are in and don't respond when they post to your home page.

What I need you to understand, Mel, is that Maths Wizard was in a very angry and upset state, and goading from the people I mentioned has gone on long enough to make us *all* very wary and agitated.

Mel it is you that is missing the point. I creaded another account to flee stalking and came back to this one because BB and member were stalking me. These two follow us without mercy and get others on their side.

I've just had to leave two more threads because of Member in the last 2 days...as a case in point. One I had to leave weeks ago, was a fascinating discussion about Guantanamo Bay - I was really corss to have to leave, but he started abusing me. Mel, it is no joke!

I never said it was a joke. If I thought it were I wouldn't have contacted the Italics or be talking to you right now.

What I see is parties who don't get on but who like to discuss the same sorts of topics. This leaves very little choice for you. Either you ignore the goading, or you steer clear of each other.

I can't do anything more and I don't know what the Italics will be able to do.

Member may be annoying you but so far I haven't seen him do anything disasterous, maybe enough to be put on Pre-mod and a warning to steer clear. Unfortunately your case hasn't been helped by a post I had to yikes containing threatening behaviour which was totally against the house rules.

I'm not going near the thread that has been started in ask h2g2, if you are going to start threads like that you must understand that people will just assume that you want to air your dirty laundry and will not think any the better of you.

The best way to deal with these things is quickly and quietly by going to the people who can make a difference rather than trying to do it in public and alienating the community as a result.

If it *was* you that used Della's account to threaten Blicky then you should say so in public. I'm aware of the context and I'm not going to throw stones, but I think you owe it to Della (if not anyone else) to set the record straight on this one.
