each to their own. I prefer personally.
And pineapple chunks were *way* nicer than cola cubes, by the way...

They are not my colacubes...I rent the space between the brackets out. That's the message the current renter chose.

Well definitely heard of her. Not awfully familiar with her work, but what I do know of it I like.

I was just really suprised to see her up there. A lot of her poetry is really really good. I love it!

Indian Summer
In youth, it was a way I had
To do my best to please,
And change, with every passing lad,
To suit his theories.
But now I know the things I know,
And do the things I do;
And if you do not like me so,
To hell, my love, with you!
One of my favourites. Sums me up pretty well

Very lovely. That's what I love about them, her I don't give a d.mn spirit! And the way she presents it!
"Razors pain you
rivers are damp
acids stain you
and drugs cause cramps
guns aren't lawful
nooses give
gas smells awful
you might as well live"

She certainly kicked butt for a woman in the 1940s.

And for a woman of the 20's...

..Even. Just looked at a biography which said she was published in the 40's. Wondered why she was wearing a flapper dress in the picture..

Probably a good question. She's was around in the 20's, don't know when she was published though...

saranoh - good girl gone Essex Posted Jan 29, 2004
Doesn't mean *she* actually published it, though. They were talking about a collection of her poems.

Ah, who knows? Still good poems though.

Blues Shark - For people who like this sort of thing, then this is just the sort of thing they'll like Posted Jan 29, 2004
'Men seldom make passes
At girls who wear glasses'
was one of la Parkers, I believe, as indfeed was the classic
'Miss parker, the President is dead.'
'Really? How can they tell?'
Beter known as one of the leading lights of the Alqonquin Circle of wits and bon viveurs than as a poet, her poetry is pretty good, it must be said.
