Folkestone's microclimate

Post 1

spang

Folkestone benefits from having a very nice little microclimate, caused by being surrounded by hills on one side and sea on the other. Winters are cold but refreshing, and bring frequent snow. Summers are extremely sunny and hot, although the sea is never quite warm enough to swim in.

And anyway the sea is full of turds, which all Folkestoners know. If you see anyone swimming in the sea at Folkestone, you know they must be tourists.

The sea may be cold at Folkestone, but by the Dungeoness outfall it's reputedly quite warm. This makes the fishing good, but you wouldn't want to swim there. You probably wouldn't want to eat the fish come to that.
