Oh dear, that's not helpful - I've just have a conversation with Spouse about why Tabitha cat won't jump off the bedroom windowsill as she's a cat and knows better. I beg to differ...and am a tad worried, gievn that I need all the windows open today, what with it being 26'C!

It's roasting here too.. but Ali jumped down onto the wheelie bins beneath the window..

These people are NEVER cat owners & have NEVER paid vets bills for broken cats nor had a million nervous breakdowns watching said cat totter around a building which is much much higher than it is designed to exist in & has no supporting branch structure.

Of course cats don't know better. Cats are singularly stupid creatures, that is thay are a very specialised form of stupid. Normaly intelligent beings assume that the entire universe will do what they want it to and would never hurt someone as important as them. Hence they will sit in the middle of the road washing themselves and the traffic can wait.

I knew a cat who could cause massive tailbacks because he used to sit and wash himself in the middle of a fairly well used back street in brum, which was used to cut out hagley road when going into or out of the city, requiring that all the cars slow down to go round him. I'm sure he did it deliberately because the road in question would often have the occasional car parked at the side of it, at which time he would forego his usual spot to sit halfway between the parked car and the other side of the road, thus making it impossible for any cars to get passed him without going up onto the kerb.

That doesn't mean the cat is stupid.. but the people that continued to allow the cat to lie there to wash itself..

I know Hagley Road, used to live just off it, there is actually a Vet's just where it branches off after 5 ways, probably founded in honour of the famous traffic stopping .
